Thanks for linking the vid Type-R. The video is indeed in Chinese (Hong Kong dialect) and I understood every word. Too bad he didn't mention anything interesting. No hints of future releases, he just gushed on how cool and awesome the photos and drawings were. If there is any part where anyone wants a direct translation of the video,just list the minutes and I'll do my best.

Just got this book the other day (must have gotten caught up in the holiday mailing rush). The Megatron pictures are excellent as well as the design sketches at the end. Shame I don't know Japanese though as I'd love to know what was written.

 

Use the Google translate app on your smart phone. It's a bit crude but it will translate the images into English text. There's a lot of good info in the book. Oshima was mp36s designer according to it.

Start with the designer sketches in the back of the book. That's where they talk about conceptual decisions like choosing to have details at a minimum. That's in the Megatron part. The red box on the Inferno design sketch page talks about the big character reveal at the end of 2017. Enjoy it!

Me too! I think the reveal has to be a S1 character that's very popular so I'm leaning towards Jazz. With all the 3p versions of him it seems there's a little smoke and fire around the character. Personally, I'd love a toon accurate Mirage. One of my grails.

I had some fun with the Google translations, somethings got lost but I got the main idea of what was being said. I hope I am not reading into too much here but, I translated the comic for this year and last year involving Shockwave and Hotrod. On the 2015 one on the last page in the center panel it said "Megatron corps will return". Again I don't want to start looking at something that may not be true, however I just found it funny that it was mentioned last year and this year blammo!

Is this really a 2016-2017 book? The front cover says 2017 vol. 1. Where is the 2017 vol. 2?

 

Renamed to Generations 2018.

 

So what happened to the 2016 book? The "2016-2017" book actually just says 2017 vol 1 on the cover.

 

Yea they just renamed it 2017 “Volume 1” even though it covers 2016. So “technically” there isn’t a 2016 issue.
