It's been explained numerous times why Optimus is on Earth, so I'm not sure why you're claiming that's a mystery, and we have no idea when the Titan invasion takes place in relation to this story. And given that he randomly took his head off in the middle of a conversation, plus pretty much all of his dialogue, I think Wreck-Gar's still pretty senseless even if he's not quoting TV constantly.
I do agree the art looks messy in areas. But I still like it at the same time. Ugh, Talon stirring up the pot. Having Spike there won't help either. Also Flint's there, think we'll finally get some acknowledgement of his relation to Marissa.
I\'m generally not a fan of crossovers, but I actually don\'t mind the GI Joe presence here, just so long as the Joes and their mythology don\'t overshadow the Transformers. I don\'t want any Joes killing off major characters like they did with Bumblebee back in the day.
Maybe I'm too tired for words right now, but is Wreck Gar making more sense than the Talon(?) narration. I'm sure the sales figures won't miss me, but I don't think I'll be sticking around for this new book. I've spent too long wishing for things to go back to season one and it seems season 3 (is this season 3?) has just gone further from my hopes.
A character introduced in the Conquerors arc. He pretty much feels the same way about Transformers as Spike does, as that narration shows. He joined G.I. Joe during the Titan Returns portion of Ex-RiD and Talon was his given code name. If that's what you were asking.
wait wait wait... GI JOES???? i though that all the revolution crap was over and this will be optimus prime without all that extra, welp, guess now i'm officially done with IDW, i'm not buying transformers comics to read gj joe comics
agreed, this shared universe stuff is bullshit, I am not reading GI Fuckin Joe to see what Skywarp is up to, and I don't want to see GI Fuckin Joe in my TF books........im out
All this bitching about G.I. Joe being in a Transformers comic set on Earth is laughable and IDW has been up front with this being a shared universe post Revolution's. If you just want a simple Transformers comic than stick with TAOO and Lost Light!
I read Dreamwave and some early IDW, and liked it alright. Liked War Within a lot. And since childhood I've dug the idea of a larger TF universe with more factions and worlds... but in cool, sci-fi, wondrous sense. I've tried very, very hard to get into the new IDW stuff. But somehow I just can't reconcile it with what I love about TF fiction. I'm all for slightly more adult themes and depth, but I also want some camaraderie, joy, and simplicity at times... that weird robot family vibe TF has always had. All this political intrigue and self-doubt and distrust is just not why I watch or read Transformers personally, except in sparing doses and special cases. And I want Optimus to care about the Matrix again. I tried!
At least we have Till all are one and Lost Light. And it's strange, while I generally like that IDW Transformers is a lot more mature than previous fiction we had, I would actually prefer that Optimus Prime would be unchanged and be like his Sunbow incarnation. He was a fun loving guy who cared about his troops and was willing to give his life to save the world and while he had wise words for his friends (his troops were like his family) but he did not give speech after speech, he was just like a perfect hero. Although that also makes him sometimes boring, I find him less boring this way than IDW Optimus who seemed to be more Optimus when he was Orion Pax (I also don't like that he was a police officer before), than he is now. In Dark Cybertron, when he fought Nova Prime and Hot Rod gave him a pep talk before, I thought we now finally get to see the real Optimus. But he is just still mopy all the time and now this stupid Camien combiner even questions Optimus. Heros like Optimus Prime, He-Man and Superman should be pure good paragon of a hero. Heros that inspire the people around them to do better and try their own very best they can be. And to G.I. Joe. I tried watching Resolute, as it seems to be praised a lot here. I loved the animation style, I would love a Transformers show in that style (hopefully based on IDW G1), but I just could not get into it. I stopped it after 10 or 15 minutes.
... Wait. Skywarp is the Transformer that joined GI Joe? Is that why he hadn't appeared in Optimus Prime at all?
You are not required to read GI Joe's comics to understand. And whoever is complaining about reading looks like I think it's a lot better to have GI Joe than generic organizations that nobody cares like Skywatch.
Why would Skywarp need to be in Optimus Prime when all the Decepticons, other than Soundwave have left Earth? Skywarp is with G.I. Joe now, just like Kup and Garrison Blackrock/Sovereign will be in the Revolutionaries team comic. IDW mean't what they said about this being a shard universe.
I continue to adore johns take on prime. Also using gi joe as the link between the various new series isn't the worst idea in the world, although the rebel group wanting to murder rom is a bit eyebrow up. Art wise lines are solid (wreck gar as lobo is just tee her) but still not a fan of the faux cross hatching "da marvel!" Colouring style. Even if I liked the marvel era in a nostalgic way, this just looks too artificial. Still super interested in where this is going.
Why did the decepticons leave earth? So kup and skywarp are not in Transformers comics anymore??? This sucks even more. Fuck the shared universe. But yeah, I hope I'm not the only one that drops out, so that sales figures will speak for themselves.
Galvatron. Currently all either in prison, Jupiter station or back on cybertron. They've no investment in earth with galvatron dead and soundwave in an alliance. The question is not why would they leave but why stay? The moderates don't really want to be there and the extremes are all locked up I understand the sales to be pretty solid as there's a lot of reader base crossover as people read books to see how it ties together. So far think only love micronauts doesn't have a shared universe character appearance.
I thought soundwave might convince them to follow him. Help Optimus. Would've been logical. With Galvatron dead, I don't understand why Optimus is still in a hurry to get earth into the galactic council. He could continue in moderate negotiations and explain more carefully to earth the importance from cybertron and help them with the titan problem at hand, which is more urgent.
Transformers are appearing in every Hasbro comic except Jem and the holograms, just like the Joes; Beachhead and Grunt are in Rom, Action Man and Ayana Jones will be in Revolutionaries, and the Joes will stay in Optimus Prime. What is with the shard universe hate? This is what Marvel and DC do all the time characters crossover into each others books all the time and it works for them. And Transformers have enough characters to go around, so they can thin them out across the other comics.
