In support of Alex Milne losing his position as the headline artist for MTMTE/TLL, I have created an online position asking IDW comics to give Alex Milne his Job back.

While I understand that there are some members on the board who are not a fan of the book itself, Alex Milne is a fantastic artist who deserves better, especially for all the awards and praise that have been given to the title during his run as artist.

Bring back Milne! If you agree and wish to support, please sign this petition at the address below. Lets let our voices be heard.

I should add that I typed this post in a hurry and meant to write that I support Alex retaining his job after losing his position as lead artist on MTMTE/TLL. I haven't been on here posting in a while and don't know how to edit.

He's still on the title, he's just alternating arcs with Jack Lawrence.

He has not actually been contracted to do any work on lost light as of yet. Said as much on Twitter.

I recently made a similar Post and after some conversations with Alex and a mod backed down. No point in potentially causing friction or trouble or negativity for Alex with idw editorial.

Maybe wait until we have more information about the situation? Like, I know people are upset but we don't have any solid information on anything. The current arc is set to be a long one, as in five or six issues, maybe wait and see what happens then?

I'm not saying I like how Alex is being treated but this feels a bit like jumping the gun a bit.

Yeah, that is a real thing that happens. Maybe you should reconsider this thread and the poll. There's nearly a 0% chance of any internet poll ever bringing the desired effect to the poll-starter, but there are HUNDREDS of recorded cases where taking a comics creators' plight to social media has blown up in their faces and made their situation with their employers a hundred times worse. There was a perfect example of this only a couple days ago in the DC Comics thread, regarding two creators working on a Wonder Woman series. You can easily help turn a "later" into a "never" for someone.

And for f*ck's sake, if Alex asked you to back off, BACK OFF. You aren't helping him by doing this.

Wait, Milne actually told them to leave it be? Then yeah, AutobotMegatron is way out of line doing this, even if they think it's for good reasons.

Op, If you actually want to help, why not write a personal letter to IDW. A politely worded letter or two could do more than a petition in this case.

Petitions like this are silly, and usually get nothing done. However, I do believe IDW should do us all a favor and just tell us what the fuck is going on, they're treating the poor guy like shit and it's making me uneasy. In my experience, if a boss doesn't have you on the schedule and won't tell you why, they're either planning on firing you or want to fire you but can't. I've been in that situation and seen others in that situation, and never once has it been an innocent mistake, it's a hint. The whole "alternating arcs" thing is really insulting because Milne found out at the same time the fans did and reportedly has yet to be given any work for the title, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm hoping that is not the case and we'll have Milne back like reported, as if Milne's not coming back, I'm dropping MTMTE and just sticking with Till All Are One.

I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but I'm suddenly reminded of some of the stuff I read about Don leaving IDW. Granted, that was for different reasons, but once he was gone he was gone for good. I hope that doesn't happen with Milne, his departure would mean I won't be buying any books from IDW. Which would be tough on me as I'm digging the hell out of TAAO.

    IDW will not say

    ONE

    DAMN

    THING

about this problem. No announcement, no editorial explanation, no commitment, nothing. So post all you want. It's IDW you want an answer from. If they punish Milne for it, boo them on Twitter. Say anything publicly to a company on Twitter and they'll notice.

You really take the idea of destroying someone's career lightly.

Milne is apparently doing some cover work. I shall endeavour to purchase those - however if they are RI covers it will be difficult and pricey for many to do so.
Nothing against Jack Lawrence (I haven't seen enough of his work to make a solid judgement thus far) however the synergy between Milne and Roberts is one of those "lightning in a bottle" type situations. I think IDW have shot themselves in the foot with this - the visual identity of MTMTE (with the glorious colouring work of Burcham and then Lafuente) was a key part of the book for me, and I'm sure many others.
2016 was deffo a bumpy road for IDW. The ramifications may be felt keenly.

You gotta speak with your wallet. If Milne confirms that he has is no longer with IDW, and that upsets you, you have to stop buying the book. It's as simple as that. Crying on twitter isn't going to do anything.

You really have a weird idea of the definition of "destroying someone's career."

I am a freelance writer. I even paid some bills out of my writing this year. If someone stopped giving me work w/ no explanation, and I had fans respond negatively on Twitter, it would be good for my career, not bad. It would show the company that I had a sizable fanbase.

As of yesterday, Milne said on Twitter he hadn't heard anything about interiors yet. We should be letting them know.

You are ridiculously deluded and clearly have no awareness of the comics industry. Again, there are dozens of RECENT recorded cases of creators and their fans taking a creator's plight with a publisher to public media and it has never once worked in favor of the creator. Check the comics news sites. Check Bleeding Cool, in which Rich takes reluctant credit for causing it personally on more than one occasion.

Congrats on your first steps into the freelance world. If you ever get to the point it becomes your sole, full-time gig, keep in mind employers don't take kindly to you pulling back the curtain and sharing your negotiated dealings with the public. Right or wrong, they just don't. And I've seen exactly this kind of naivety wreck a new freelance career before it even really gets started. Especially in an industry as small and incestuous as American comics.

If you write to IDW and say, "Where is Milne? I like his art and I want to see him on more books," that's well and good. But if the thread starter writes IDW and says, "Milne says you stopped giving him more work for no reason," I GUARANTEE YOU that will blow up in his face big time. And if you try to insert yourself into whatever situation is between artist and publisher to "Boo" IDW on Twitter about it, you are helping nail his coffin shut.

Ok, So I guess I'll have to step in before this spirals out of control in any way.

First let me thanks everyone for their support and that they like my work enough to want me to continue with what I've been doing the last few years. Much appreciated. However I am not telling anyone to go boo IDW for not having me currently working on Lost Light.
Also I do have other work with IDW that I'm currently working on that I can't talk about at this moment. There was talk about a secret project back at NYCC that I'm waiting for final approval on and then the public announcement from IDW about that. So still can't talk about that, but there is something in the works.

As for Lost Light I don't have any information about it at this moment. I know that schedules change and thing become reorganized, that's just how the industry works. At the moment that only thing I can confirm I'm doing for LL is some covers. If and when that changes I can let others know. There have been a lot of changes in the last few months to staff and projects and it takes time for everyone to settle back in to a nice flow of things, so lets all just wait and see what happens shall we :)
