On the Transformers: Earth Wars facebook page, they just posted a neat video about an art collector named Heather Russell, who shares some pictures of some of the great original G1 artwork that was used in the toy packaging (and seen in the Transformers Legacy book) https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=772223236265408
As jealous as I am, I'm really glad Heather has invested the time, resources, and energy into collecting and preserving many of these masterful works together. The amazing detail of G1 packaging was where so much of the magic was for me. I'm heartened to see there are people who give these artworks the respect and care they deserve, despite the fact that they're of commercial origin.
Neat. It looks like all of these were altered to have faction symbols just like the other pre-TF art. But the hands on Ratchet were not altered to be all red as they were later.
These almost all came from Eddie, I remember being offered the Trypticon, Triggerhappy, and a few others. Should have picked them up. I think he still has Countdown and Airwave.
Astonishing collection, a great feature. Doesn't she run one of the Japanese auction proxy bidding services? All the best Maz
Yes, they must have come from him, way back in 2006! Wish I was a member of the board and knew about the auction then! These pieces of original artwork are like the equivalent of America's Founding Documents (Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights) to us TF fans and I'm glad they are being appreciated, preserved and shared.
She's founder and CEO of Rinkya Inc., an "English-language service Russell started in 2002 that enables consumers to buy products for sale through online Japanese auctions." Heather Russell: Able to take care of her parents Very interesting person, especially with the TF connection!
