He wanted to know the differences between the two figures. Looks like someone has an issue with big things. Lol
Those are more like super robot proportions. But yeah, the dynamic'd-up Voltron was never really the animation model of the original. Voltron was always a few gears above a G1 Transformer in terms of boxy fun. Not knocking people who prefer that look, but to me the SOC looks damn near perfect, chunk and all. I'd love to own it one day. As someone with a small penis I can attest that size doesn't matter. Unless it's your penis.
As much as I want the SOC, I would honestly prefer a smaller classic Voltron. I don't mind the Playmates one being big because that's the only version of it so far, but I feel like I could reasonably expect like a Bandai model kit or something to eventually come around to satisfy my love of the original design. I want something I can combine and play with at my desk.
Toynami has the size, look, and articulation I want, but has no accessories, has shit hips, and is expensive as hell. SOC Voltron is a lot smaller, has a look I don't want, and needs to remove tails to attach arms, but has many accessories, tight articulation, and is $100 less. If I wasn't unable to buy a Voltron anyway right now because of lack of funds, I'd be irritated as hell trying to decide which version to get.
Actually no, the Mad Toys King of Beast lacks wrist articulation. There are no splayed out articulation for the lion legs too. Also, the head is rather squished. Apart from that, it's rather good. Diecast good
Damn, the SOC version is smexy as hell. Delicious paint and chrome. It's definitely a display/show piece and will be as such in my collection (meaning minimal handling, just light posing). I'm not crazy about the other Voltrons out there. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better for me.
I remember seeing a posting by Madtoys that they fixed the wrist and bicep swivel in the new one. You can see in this pic the articulation.
As of now you can pre-order it at LCM Toy. In an email he told me he is expecting it soon. Toyercity also said they will have it up on their site soon. As far as I can tell, it will be a lower price at Toyercity, when it shows up on their site. Quote from Madtoys: "Though it won't be under our name anymore, glad this happen I believe more store is going to list. As we know, Toyercity can still get full supporting on customer service from Icarus Toys. Hope you guys enjoy, happy 2017"
Now, my opinion doesn't really matter on this, but I will drop my two cents. As far as I'm concern guys whatever you guys buy for your take on the Defender of the Universe than that's what matters. For me I really don't know if I do buy one I'll get whatever appeases my taste.
I'll hafta keep an eye out then as that version was nice despite it's flaws. That added articulation and more accurate paint job may just do it for me.
My Playmates Legendary Defender Voltron Neck Mod. You can find detailed step-by-step instructions in a previous post a page or 2 back. ^_^ Also: Pictured you'll see a hip joint mod I did too- it allows the legs to swing back and forth just a little more. Any questions, just ask.
