FULL RESULTS AND YEAR IN REVIEW HERE

As you may remember, over the last few years I've done a few write in surveys, polls and a summary for 3rd Party Year in Review. I'm happy to do that again this year, if you'll all indulge me.

We're following last years format for the most part, but this year with 4 toy stages to nominate and 3 companies stages. First place will be scored 3 points, Second Place will be scored 2 points and Third Place will be scored with 1 point, so it's important to rank your nominations this year.

I will tally the votes and get the polls open on Boxing Day so we can vote for Toy of the Year. Company of the Year will just be decided on the write-in votes, so make it count. If you only have one or two to vote for in a category, that's fine, just write those in.

In terms of nominations, it can get difficult as there can be crossover and confusion as to what is intended for what scale, but write-in your vote as best you can and we'll go with majority rules. It's an imperfect system, especially with things like DX9 Hulkie, but I would place him with small scale as even combined he is small.

I'm trusting you all to remember what came out this year. Remember, Tyrant and Sunsurge missed out on last years vote because they shipped right at the end of the year, so they are eligible for this year.

Here are the four categories for Toy of the Year:
MP style - means of a scale and aesthetic intended to fit in with the Takara line.
CHUG style - means a modern or new take on existing characters across the Deluxe - Leader class scale. I would include all Cross Dimension and Reformatted here (including Carnifex even though you could argue he is both a combiner and a big bugger).
Giant Toy - means Combiner or Citybot
Small scale - means Legend Scale including Dx9 Hulkie.

The Categories for Company of the Year are the same as previous years.

Well we're all biased one way or another, but I'm not going to come around your house and check what you own  

I wouldn't personally include any upscaled or downsize KOs in a "best of" vote, as great as they might be, as they're not what I consider to be "the best" of what the spirit of 3P represents, but again, that's subjective to me.

 

I could use a list of figures that just came out this year. Just started collecting this year so I was buying everything possible. I'll give it a shot later.

1) Iron Factory EX18 Lord Scorpion - most impressive Legends class figure to-date
2) Iron Factory EX16 Pink Assassin - tiny figure but really cool
3) Iron Factory EX06-10 Ashura Knights Dynobots - once the price came down and was no longer a prohibitive factor, these turned out to be a pretty decent set of figures

Best Company of 2016
1) MakeToys - They've been the most consistent in delivering excellent products this year
2) Iron Factory - Amazing, best-in-class Legends scale figures
3) MMC - Primarily for Carnifex, Jaguar, and Sphinx. Some of their other releases this year were lackluster and not up to their former standard as one of the best 3P companies so they're definitely not worthy of 1st or 2nd place.

Most Improved Company of 2016
1) KFC - Whether under their own label or a subsidiary/partner brand, they have really started to show the capability to produce better quality products
2) MakeToys - Has to get a mention for really stepping up their game this year. So much product and yet pretty much all of it done so well.
3) Iron Factory - showed a superb line-up of products and continues to deliver them without a significant quality hiccup

I look forward to putting Fansproject on the "most improved" list next year. Hint Hint to FP...

Best Newcomer of 2016
1) BB7/Yes Model. The YM-01 MP-11SW Skywarp KO is better than the original, superb quality KO at less than half the price of the Takara product. We need more of this to bring Takara MP prices back down to reality.
2) BB7/Yes Model again for YM-02 MP-11T Thundercracker KO. Utter perfection right out of the box.
3) Cloud9. The QuakeBlast figure delivered a high quality product at a much more appropriate price point than competitors.
