We're 2/3 of the way into the Prime Wars, and yet no Primes have actually warred yet. Onyx Prime has been touted as the next big thing to arrive, so I'm still confident we'll see Beasts in a larger capacity.

Primes, plural, could mean 13 fighting, but it could also mean just two or three battling it out. Optimus, Onyx and perhaps Micronus, who was just introduced in Revolutions.

Let us not forget: The current line is called Titans Return, yet it's about Headmasters. Power of the Primes may be the name, but it could be about anything.

 

It happened alot in combiner wars and already a fair amount in titans return. I'm looking at sentinel and astrotrain and the numerous titan master figures

 

really, in recent years this has been fairly rare ~ with the advent of parts sharing and reshelling the amount of straight up repaints has been pretty rare, and in MOST cases have involved at least a new head (or in TRs case, new faces)

compared to back in the UT days when almost every single figure was re-released as a straight up repaint with no retooling.

 

So seeing as how Wave 3 is just hitting shelves, and we should have at least two more waves to go of Titans Return. I'd say the Generations side Toy Fair will most likely be dominated by the last two waves and Trypticon. Toy Fair last year only features waves 1&2. I could see something similar to Botcon 2015s "Titan Wars" lineart being teased, So I'm guessing SDCC will get the actual reveal.

If history repeats itself. Wave 4 should hit around February/March, Wave 5 around June/July and Wave 6 around September/October. Hascon is September 17(or close.) So I'm expecting POTP to come out exactly a year from now. Though they could hold it back a few months like they did with Titans Return, at least to have it all at Toyfari and to give Trypticon some breathing room.

 

I can see Micromasters to fill out the titans Return Bases.

If it is 13 Primes though they are going to all need repaint potential and I just don't see it? Sentinel to Astrotrain is a real stretch. I can't imagine a full line of that or it will be a lot of blah stuff.

 

Thinking in-Universe (IDW), Micronus Prime's colony was wiped out by the Black Block Consortia, so there's no characters to draw from there. Presumably the hot-spot within the dead Prion has gone offline, too.

 

I can see the 3rd line as a combination of all the gimmicks a little bit of everything. The toys are following the comics somewhat but not completely Chromedome and Cyclonus being examples. Chromedome hasn't been made into a headmaster in the comics nor does Cyclonus become a combiner but their toys do have those gimmicks. I think the focus will be on the 13 Primes for it but its own storyline and doesn't follow the comics exactly either way though im excited to see what we get from it. Hopefully a new figure of the Fallen.

 

Power of the Primes clearly suggests that there will be a huge emphasis on those characters in particular so maybe the line will be based on the 13 Primes and the themes each one of them represents (Combiners for Nexus Prime, female Transformers for Solus Prime, beasts for Onyx Prime, etc.).

Sure, it might be a bit too good to be true but if this was the case indeed then we could see one of the most diverse lines in years.

 

It would be cool if they did that maybe we can get a Nova Prime or a Prima toy

 

Make them Build-A-Figures, they predate the modern concept of "robots in disguise" anyway and I doubt they'd be willing to do Nexus Prime as a standard combiner so soon after Combiner Wars. You could even have that be the gimmick, each piece of the Prime can transform into a weapon (Or vehicle or base mode for torsos & other larger pieces) or otherwise combine with the character they come with (Such as wings being used as a jetpack). They could tie some of the Prime/character interactivity into their roles in the Aligned fiction such as a Megatron that comes with Liege Maximo's arm or an Ultra Magnus that comes with Solus Prime's hammer. Knowing the recent love for customizable play patterns, the parts could be interchangeable like CW limbs and TR heads & Hasbro could advertise the potential to "Build your own Prime" (Perhaps "The Thirteenth" if they use a lineup that would otherwise include Optimus)

Or maybe the title is unrelated to the gimmick and Combiner Wars ends up being the odd-name-out...

 

Rodimus Prime. That's all I really want. A Voyager Rodimus Prime, or a Leader class Powermaster Rodimus Prime.

Given that they've been hitting the Season 3 and 4 bots, I wonder if they'll do some Headmasters and Victory characters since IDW has been using them. (Still hoping to see a Greatshot retool of Six Shot and a Dai Atlas/Grand Atlas).

I'm thinking they'll do some of the thirteen primes, but it's going to have a powermaster gimmick. They've done combiners and headmasters, so another gimmick would fit. It doesn't mean they will, but I'm leaning towards that.

 

You never know , things don`t all ways make sense with what Has/Tak does when it comes to Transformers . We could end up seeing a mix of things speculated on , we could end up with some thing none of us ever saw coming ... But we can`t count out any thing at this point , contrary to what looks like common sense or not . I find it extremely exciting to be kept on our toes in such a way

I think in the latest interview with Warden he said no Rodimus Prime is in the works at all at this point.

 

With a name likes this? Hopefully Rodimus Prime. Voyager. Not taller, not smaller.

It could also be like a 2.5 series. If you've got the 3D models designed and voice actors ready to go, why wait a year between each series? They could pump them out at 6 monthly intervals.
