Meh. It's been almost ten years. I wouldn't mind a sequel per say, but still. Meh.

James Cameron had been hyping Avatar since the mid-'90s and I was starting to worry it would never happen when HOLY SHIT it finally did!

If the sequels live up to the original (not to mention all the OTHER amazing sequels he's responsible for, Rambo First Blood Pt. 2, Aliens, and T2: Judgment Day among them, ffs!) then he can take ALL THE TIME HE WANTS and OMFG I WILL BE THERE.

    I FUCKING LOVE AVATAR.

Unless this movie utilizes full VR headset, it'll never live up to the first one.

Can't wait to see what movie he rips off this time. Last time we had pocahontis dancing with smurfs in ferngully!

The movie was ok but man was it a rip off of those movies.

It's not a "rip-off," it's archetypal storytelling...which is partly why it's been so massively successful worldwide.

And speaking of archetypal storytelling, it's pretty cool that they're confident enough in whatever Lightstorm movie it is to put it up against Ep. VIII and LUKE FUCKING SKYWALKER himself.

Gonna be a BUSY time for me at the movies!

So almost singlehandedly saving every movie theater chain in America by writing, directing, and producing a movie which serves as a BRILLIANT metaphor for the technology HE HIMSELF SPEARHEADED and developed over the course of DECADES and all but FORCED those theaters to adopt to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars of profit from ONE SINGLE MOVIE for the sake of SAVING THE PLANET FROM CORPORATE GREED AND ENVIRONMENTAL CATASTROPHE is somehow now being equated with "wasting his time"...?!?

    LOLOKAY.

    Because SURE, that makes sense.

If we were talking about any other director, I'd say there'd be a reasonable chance of Matrix sequels, Starwars Prequels, or The Hobbit.

This is James Cameron. Worst case scenario it'll still be a good movie. Even if it's derivative, it'll still be compelling entertainment.

I realise there's already legions of internet trolls with their knives out for this. Expectations will be insanely high. I wish him well.

Shouldn't Avatar 2 be about the humans returning and carpet bombing the entire planet, wiping out everything and everyone on it so they can more easily collect the <insert eye roll> unobtainium? That's a movie I would watch. If it was on tv. Commercial-free.

I forgot NOTHING! But I AM glad you brought it up.

If we started compiling a list of ways in which James Cameron has NOT been wasting his time with Avatar movies then we'd be here all day and almost CERTAINLY eclipse the character limit, lol.

Suffice it to say that the man knows wtf he's doing. The hubris involved in second-guessing him from an armchair perspective is monumentally ridiculous.

Speaking of which, "Unobtanium" is a sci-fi reference and perfectly within the realms of ACTUAL names on the Periodic Table of Elements, lol. Try again.

    :P

You're so damn edgy. I suppose you like to root for the empire in Star Wars movies too.

They went with "Unobtanium" because "Upsidaisium" was already taken by Rocky and Bullwinkle.
