If they really want to do well they need to lose the TOYWORLD branding, looks ridiculous and will stick out like a sore thumb amongst other Ark members. Daft thing is the front fender livery looks real world accurate so this looks even more odd. I'd also honestly prefer the livery to be optional stickers, not everyone wants the race car look.

Besides that I actually dig it, far better looking than the emaciated Coneheads. Arms confirmed as misstransformed will make him look better proportionately. Interesting.

 

Hmm, my opinion pretty much matches others on here. 'Toyworld Racing'...  
The face, the hands, eew!
The car mode... yum!  

 

What the...? That alt mode is truly beautiful - far better than what we have seen of Downbeat's alt mode. Toyworld nailed the curves and proportions. Then they plastered "Toyworld Racing" all over it, which isn't great (why not just leave out the text on those parts?).

Then you get to the robot mode and that head! It took me a moment to work out what it reminded me of, then I remembered: that video that went around recently of cats getting brain freeze from eating cold stuff:



And why give him articulated hands that look like peg hands? With a Bumblebee-esque gap in the forearms too.

Also, I wonder why every 3P G1 Jazz we've seen so far has lower legs that are disproportionately long?

Still, there's a lot to like about this guy - the alt mode is great and the robot mode (bearing in mind the mis-transformed arms) is a very good effort over all, if you ignore the terrible face and fists. But they need to make some improvements if they want to compete with the excellent Downbeat.

 

This is looking promising. the face certainly needs some work and I agree (with everyone?) that the 'toyworld racing' needs to go!

The hands aren't a deal killer really. So many aftermarket hands knocking around that could/will be a better option. A closed mouth face would be wise though.....and they REALLY need to lose the self promotional bullshit.

 

I'll stick with Maketoys.

 

Ok, TW asked me to post the earlier pics and get feedback on Blues. I tallied up your criticisms and comments and sent them the results.

First, the face: Blues actually already has a second face, they forgot to send a pic, here it is:



Second, the hands: They say the figure is too far along in production to change the hands, however they are considering releasing a second set of hands after the fact.

Third, the "ToyWorld Racing" deco: They have heard your complaints and are going to change it to something more character appropriate.

Fourth, the head plate: They say the figure is too far along in production to change it.

Fifth, fit and finish: The final figure will fit together better than this pre-production figure.

I'll keep all of you posted on any changes.

 

There are quite a few alternate branding options that would do the job... but the easiest would be MARTIN or MARTIN1.

Yeah, I sent them a list of "close enough" suggestions.

 

Not perfect but I will take another Jazz. Bring him.

 

Or just, you know, put the real deco on there, because clearly respecting intellectual property is not a concern here.

The new face has peaked my interest, if they fix the branding as well I may get tempted.
It will depend on how downbeat looks painted.

 

Yeah, just put down MARTIN and then maybe include some dry rub letters in the same font, vowels would do so we could change Martin to Martine, Martino, Martina, Martinu etc.

Well, that's definitely loads better than the weird brain freeze face. For me (subjective opinion, etc!), it's still nowhere near as nice as the Downbeat face sculpt, but he seems a decent figure over all, especially if they are getting rid of the "Toyworld" branding. It's a shame about the hands, and that they didn't try to get feedback on this sort of thing before going so far along the production route, but that's a minor point. The alt mode is perfect. And it's Jazz, so I'm interested in seeing more...
