The explanation in the novel makes lot more sense. Spoiler Basically the Republic gets the DS plans during the Second Battle of Geonosis, but it's deliberately unclear exactly who found them and how (the Jedi, at least, were not involved). Evidence that the Separatists were developing a superweapon led to the Republic deciding that they need a superweapon (y'know, nuke analogy), and they need to finish theirs first. So they start building the "Mobile Battle Station" pretty much immediately, out of fear that the Seps will finish theirs first and win the war. (Oh, and Krennic makes a deal with Poggle the Lesser (who was captured after the battle as per TCW) to get the Geonosians to build the station. This blows up in Krennic's face when Poggle instructs the drones to start destroying everything and escapes back to the CIS, only to be immediately killed on Mustufar.) The whole "Death Star was a CIS plan" was essentially a giant ruse to get the Republic on board with funding an enormous battle station.
Awesome rumor...and I hope it's true. Vader will have a much larger role than previously thought, and it will be the darkest version of Vader ever seen in the movies. OH YEAH - CONFIRMED PG-13 Rating!
Tickets go on sale tomorrow in the U.K. and most likely at the end of the month for those of us here in the U.S.
I've been DYING for news on advance ticket sales! Hoping to do like I did for Ep.VII last year and to get the same front row/center seat at three IMAX/3D screenings in a row on opening night, so I really need to be ready to go a.s.a.p. once the go on sale to make that happen. SO FUCKING EXCITED. XD
So with Transformers and Spider-Man trailers confirmed, and possibly Guardians Of The Galaxy, Justice League, and Episode 8 trailers, this could possibly be the greatest night in movie trailer history.
Can't wait. Been avoiding spoilers and such. I know the basic set up of stealing death star plans and that is it. One month. Come on baby...
Works for me. I actually do think the crawl should stick with the Episodic-Saga films. They just need to stick with this -- I certainly don't want to see the crawl on future stand alone Star Wars Stories.
Seems a bit strange (just because I'm so used to an opening crawl) but no biggie. I wouldn't mind an opening like TCW with Tom Kane.
I'm fine with it not having an opening crawl, I just hope they find something else to do at the start of the spin-off movies to make a new tradition.
I've said it before. Since these spinoffs are jumping around the timeline, a scroll should be used to let audiences know when it takes place in relation to the numbed episodes.
I was so excited to finally see Doctor Strange last night (which was excellent, btw!) and I even took a bunch of MDMA and vodka for the occasion, but I had go find a manager when the trailers started because no one in the projection booth had switched the lens for the 3D she they were supposed to yet. To their credit, they fixed the problem about a minute and a half later...but that was JUST long enough to screw up my first Rogue One trailer in 3D. NIGHT = RUINED :'(
