If that was the reason, then why not have them look like sharks? Sharks are a lot more visually recognizable to kids, too. Either way, it makes no sense.

No offense, but I don't believe you.

Piranha are easier to design with. They're essential spheres, so they're easy to animate and easy to work with, particularly with those feeding frenzies they tend to have.

What you should really be asking is why they have those skinny arms and waddling legs.

    'Cause they don't lift bro!

In all seriousness I always saw the Sharkicons as just one type of troop - the disposable grunt piranha style body type - whereas the rest of the Sharkticon troops are more sharky.

I really don't know! Is it an anime character, if so that makes sense as I don't watch anime.

I don't watch Dr. Who, but I know who he is. You hang around any group of geeks and nerds, anime is bound to come up and Dragonball is too mainstream not to at least have a passing familiarity with it. Basic nerd osmosis dude.

Well in the terms of G1 at least in RiD2015 the Sharkticon in that show actually does looks like one. Though I find it amusing how he looks like a hammerhead with arms and legs and transforms into a generic looking robot shark.

No one I hang around watches anime. And I couldn't give two Energon cubes about a Japanese show. I have no interest in anime, ok?

I feel like the most confusing thing to me is how the hell do headmasters work!? Is it the Japanese version, which I prefer because it's more cohesive and easy to apply to toys, but the American version is a little more interesting story wise and seems to create more interesting media, I've been trying to watch Headmasters for the first time and goddamn it is grueling...not everyone enjoys muh animays, even if they're otherwise obsessed with the subject matter. The Rebirth on the other hand, I could watch that ish erry day! It's dope as hell, the robots heads are little dudes in crazy transforming suits! They can pop off and like kick someone in the balls while the transformer blows up The Glorious Independant Republic of Carbombya or something idk it's just what's up.

But I'm so torn! I think I'll just stick with my head-canon, which is the robots heads turn into smaller robots which are the living, thinking robot, while the larger body remains autonomous and drone-like. This is great with Titans Return toys because you can stick their guns in the head socket and most of them look quite drone-ish, especially Scourge! Easily one of my favorites. I also enjoy looking for inappropriate places you can fit the heads, which is a good chunk of 5mm and hexagonal ports I've found!
