When the toy-accurate Shockwave is released.

 

Wonder how easy it would be to custom. Really I'd prefer it had some metallic silver to it. It looks a little too matte, I guess it's more toon accurate this way though.

Also, hoping someone makes a chastity belt/ crotch cover for him in bot mode  

 

I'm hoping for comic Shockwave like the cover of Transformers #5, like the Grimlock release.

 

Notice how the angle is from below? leading to the high crotch and small waist... I've mentioned this before, but it's meant to extoll height... it shouldn't be used to give us Steve Urkel's vision of Megatron lol

I just can't wait for preorders to release. I just want to be guaranteed one.

 

Are there any retailers who ship to the US without actually gluing the inevitable orange plug to the barrel or will I be forced to use a proxy to send me one? (I already have a proxy that can probably procure one in Taiwan, but I just would rather avoid the hassle. And yes, I know preorders aren't open yet, but seeing as the gold repaint of MP-05 came out not that long ago we probably have precedent regarding which retailers are best.)

Has anyone bashed a crome chest with the fancy lines? 

 

Has anyone pointed out the translucent plastic bits on his abdomen? I absolutely love that detail.

 

I honestly don't know how to react when I first saw the news but here's some of my thoughts...

1. Aesthetics

TT nailed the toon and that's not necessary a good thing because it clashes with Optimus to a certain extent. I would prefer if TT had followed MP-10's styling but its not a deal breaker for me. In fact, I wouldn't be surprise if we see a new Optimus down the road.

2. Shoulders

Are the back of the shoulders - hollow? If so, its terrible - of course, most of us are going to display with from the front but it really bugs me.

3. Extras

Love the extras such as the articulated mace, helmet (Prime Problem?) etc.

Overall impressions are good and most likely I'll be picking up 2 sets but I'm still keeping my 3P Megatron.

 

It may be a bit too accurate to the toon... A bit.. But certainly looks great, all characteristics have been nailed. I'm thinking the transformation is going to be amazing but I suppose that is to be expected of MPs at this point. I'd like to get two just so I have one to mess around with but maybe I'll just wait to see if they redeco him in black or a more toy accurate silver.

I'll still keep Apollyon but that's more due to it now probably not being worth what I paid and I do like Poly enough that it doesn't hurt to have an extra Megatron around.

 

As far as we can tell, they're not hollow but they have a section that comes up farther on the edge, which looks way crazier because of the shadows.

Well, I guess it depends on how one defines hollowness. I brightened the image.




Look at the side profile. It's clear the side panels of the upper shoulders extend backward beyond the limit of the main shoulder portion. From behind, it's clear this definitely creates a recessed area. Is that hollowness? It could definitely be called that imo. But on the other hand, it doesn't appear to extend backwards any more than the forearm outer panels do, and they don't look as hollow as the shoulders do. Probably because the shoulder also features an upper portion that also looks like it extends back a bit.

It's not a big deal to me at all, but I can definitely see where it would bother some. It would definitely be better if they could have found a way to close that space off, but I mean... ultimately all that kibble has to go somewhere. And it can't be in the alt mode bottom as in a vehicle, because he's a hand gun. So it went to his back. At least it's clean without a ton of stuff hanging off of him, relatively speaking at least.

But I do get why this would bother people.

 

Looking at these brightened pics, I'm wondering if Megatron is fixed at the waist. There's a lot going on down there and I'm not seeing any obvious point of rotation.

 

Well said! Although I do like the real MP Megatron and there are some really cool things about him the other options don't have, I agree with everything you said.

 

Yes there is waist swivel, it was confirmed in the magazine text.
