I can't believe no-one else has done this! I surely can't be the first? Anyway, the wife wanted my Titans Return Chromedome for her Lost Light Shelf, since we can't keep Rewind apart from his Conjunx Endura, can we? I felt he needed something done about his silhouette, which doesn't resemble MTMTE's Chromedome much. so I made these nice big wheels. They're simple enough. They just peg into the 5mm holes in his shoulders. The reason that one is gold and one is yellow is that I'm experimenting with the two different colours, but I got impatient about showing them off. I'm reasonably sure I'm going to paint the yellow one gold, since it looks a bit warmer and goes nicely with his existing colours. I'll probably pop off his normal wheels, and paint them to match these at some point soon. Here's a close-up of each wheel: I've put them on shapeways in two parts: Part A and Part B, so that people whose paint skills are even worse than mine (if these people exist) can order the yellow parts in yellow plastic and the black parts in black plastic if they choose. Assembly is easy as pie. You just cut away the sprues and push the outer and inner wheel surfaces into the rims. Maybe you'll need to sand the inner surface of the groove in the rims a tiny bit if it's tight. Then glue the wheel hubs in place with a couple of tiny dots of superglue.
I remember seeing someone posting about a plug to attach his stock wheels to his shoulder. Nevertheless, great idea. I would love to have this if I was in the US.
I'm not in the US either; I'm based in the UK. Postage from Shapeways' Netherlands site really isn't terrible.
The design looks nice, but they seem about 25% too large and they sit a little far away from the shoulders for my taste. And do they fit on in vehicle mode?
No, they don't fit at all in vehicle mode. Their sole purpose is to give him the same silhouette as in the comic.
