no... i'd rather have an updated look than an 80's toy with articulation.

I want a toy that my kid will want. And he wants what he sees on the tv , which is the g1 cartoon, so this sixshot, (other than the headmaster gimmick ) is exactly what I and he wants

I'd rather have something I don't have to guess who the hell it's supposed to be. I'll take an updated 80s toy any day over a generic looking comic inspired design. IMO Generations Blurr is ass next to the TR version, hell I only bought Gen Springer because it was Springer, but I want one that actually looks like G1 Springer, the Gen is nothing but a stand in.

I don't really care about IDW or G1, I just want cool lookin' toys.

There's a couple of other things I could see Takara doing, which may or may not improve the look of this figure to everyone's liking (but would at least give me pause to consider waiting on TT's offering):
    - Silver hubcaps(TM)
    - White wolf-claws (instead of the black; see the robot-mode wrists)
    - Purple robot-mode 'shins' (again, instead of black)
    - Paint/stickering the tail-fins, rather than his chest
    - Perhaps even white tank-treads

In short, everything coloured exactly the same as this illustration:

Only thing that I would prefer is the white upper thighs like the g1 toy and toon, but the price tag of a Takara leader class figure is too steep for what you are getting.

I would imagine Toyhax would provide a cheaper sticker alternative on the legs.

Sorry if someone mentioned this already, but I would be seriously surprised if Hasbro and/or Takara don't do a repaint/re-tool of Sky Shadow into Dia Atlus.

Takara is not going to chrome the hubcaps. They'll paint them silver, just like every other figure.

Damn, will be trying to pick most of these up. Will pass on G2 Prime and Black Shadow, because I'd rather get Octane, and because I like my Generations Black Shadow.

    This toyline is great.

Agree. Hasbro should just release the G1 toy again in Generations packaging.

It does, Sixshot got reissued a few years ago.

But I do have to agree, how is a toy that is basically the epitome of G1 brickness, that can do almost nothing except transform into 6... things, better than TR Sixshot, which has actual modern articulation and engineering?

Wait.... I HAVE Sixshot. He's a total brick. How could that possibly be better than the TR version??

It can't. This is just wacky people being wacky. I have the G1 figure as well. There is a near 100% chance that the TR figure improves on it.

Well, the G1 box art is really great. I love the back of the box art on the oversized G1 Sixshot box. Maybe that one part of the original toy is better.

Is Gen Springer really that hard to decipher as the original character?

Looks pretty damn Springer to me. Also, you call the IDW designs generic, but that doesn't really make them generic. In fact, they kinda do the opposite, and actually make previously simplistic designs more distinct.

You don't gotta like 'em of course, but you can't really claim something to be indistinct when it isn't.

Yeah, I would not call the IDW designs generic. The aesthetic is all over the place depending on who is drawing a particular issue and maybe depending on who did the initial design to begin with. Some I like, some I love, and some I hate. And much of that comes down to how mismatched a lot of it is. Definitely not generic.
