no black makes this set a no purchase for me. If I am going to be paying these kind of prices I personally want more g1 accurate stuff.

 

Not really, other than both being bipedal cephalopods. Launch Octopus still has a humanoid torso. He looks more like the Quintesson Bailiff, but with legs instead of that hover beam thingy.

 

I'm not sure but are the canoons and faceplate of Snaptrap Black ???

 

The toes have a different color in robot mode now. They are green now....They have made some changes i really hope they use a little more black

 

What the heck. Is that a full color Mentarazor all of a sudden? And why are Poseidon's cannons black but Ironshell's aren't?

Wait, the Ironshell on the top shelf has black but the one on the bottom shelf doesn't. What us going on?!

Optimism rising----though I was really hoping Snaptrap's BEAST mode toes would be changed to green. It almost like they got it backwards----pink toes go with pink feet, and green toes with green feet----but they kept the pink toes on the green feet (looks kinda like nail polish) and gave the pink feet odd green toes.


Hmmn---I'm thinking Seawing has grey instead of black, and light grey instead of grey. But pic is so blurry you can't tell for sure--but I see nothing that is darker than the combiner hand, which we know is grey.

 

I like the blacker color of the cannon. One last change that they'll hopefully make is the robot head. Make it black and I'll be a happy camper.

 

I think the Snaptrap in bot mode next to Poseidon *does* have a black head w/ black cannons. So it's possible they've got an early prototype and a finished model in there...causing confusion.

 

Looks like there are 3 colored Seawings there, 1 in robot mode on the top shelf and two on the bottom shelf, and 2 black Nautilators.

But which bots did they use as the left arm and leg of Poseidon? 2 more Seawings, or are those Nautilator's legs on the left arm?

 

The combiner head looks very far back. I really hope it's just the angle of the picture causing an illusion.

Snaptrap needs a Black head, not just a Black faceplate.
Oh well, I'll live, but I can see me having to do some painting.

So there are 3P pictures of Garatron Unicron and nothing of the Poseidon stuff literally RIGHT NEXT TO HIM in the case.

 

My latest theory/hope: Look at the Seawing samples. Look at the sample(s) in robot mode up in the corners. I think that the very light parts may be "milky-white prototype resin". And not final colors for those parts. (the "grey" prototypes we often see are almost never actually grey, they are painted grey after being cast in milky-white resin)

Yes, but they were the darker color that the non-wing parts of TFC's are. So the parts that should be that color aren't, and vice-versa. And it's not a color we've seen before in this set and it's not a G1 color, so they're basically just totally re-writing the team's color scheme at this point.

 

This color debate has been annoying since the inception of this set. At no point have they been *not* re-writing the color scheme. This is not a recreation of the Gen 1 Seacons, it is a *reimagination.* As in, colors are changed, liberties are taken. No third party combiner set to date has been a 1:1 color representation, and I have no idea why anyone would expect one. Ironshell is NOT Snaptrap, it is Ironshell, it is an homage to Snaptrap, and the same can be said for the rest. If you need the character to be in the Gen 1 colors, then buy the Gen 1 version, that's it. Otherwise, let the companies realize their own visions, without holding them to a standard they never agreed to.

 

So if someone made a Devastator, and replaced the purple with pale lavender, and the black with grey, and the silver with clear, there'd be no discussion/complaining about it?

PS---no one's made G1-color combiners in 3P? I'd say nearly every Devy, Menasor, and Predaking has been pretty close so far. Plus the few Superion/Defensors out there. IMHO the only really off one is Wabrotron Bruticus, and TFC Poseidon.
