I'm planning on buying one of the Masterpiece cars any suggestions on who I should get

 

Wheeljack

 

Prowl feels like the most complete to me.

The rest are (IMO)either over/under engineered, small for price (BB) or have compromised decos.

 

If you're limited to just one - Prowl or Bluestreak, coin toss between the two.

 

Another vote for the Datsun mold (Streak is my personal favorite) but Wheeljack and Sideswipe are also great.

 

I'd say you can't go wrong if you go with your favorite character out of the following:

Bluestreak
Bumblebee
Prowl
Red Alert
Sideswipe
Smokescreen

Wheeljack, personally. Sideswipe is my least favorite because of floppiness and the inability to stand up straight... and no. It's not a KO.

 

I only really have MP 10, prowl and bumblebee. Mp 10 is out because you want a car, and of those two I like Bumblebee over prowl. Bumblebee is satisfying to transform without being either too simple or overly complicated prowl seemed fiddly and over complicated to me. Admittedly, I'm more fond of Bumblebee as a character than prowl, but I will say I ended up liking CW prowl way more than the masterpiece one. (I'm much more of a chug guy anyway though.)

But I have been considering getting Tracks and/or Hot Rod lately.

 

Huh, I have 2 Swipes and haven't had any issues with either. Luck of the draw I guess ; )

The ones I have had some issues with are Tracks, Road Rage and Exhaust.

The one I started my collection with was Prowl, but only because MP10 was WAY out of my price range at the time. Sideswipe was my second purchase, followed by Bluestreak and Smokescreen.

I love the Lambo Masterpieces, but the Datsuns are really, really nice. Wheeljack is also pretty freaking awesome.

It really comes down to which character you want the most and how much you want to spend.

 

I think the car with the most enjoyable and memorable transformation is Bumblebee, but if he's a bit small for what you're after, I find that after all this time, Sideswipe has retained his magic and genius simplicity, as well as utterly killer looks in the face of developing complexity in MP car design. The Datsuns have virtually perfect looking modes but can have a few frustrating moments in conversion, Wheeljack/Exhaust are in the same category for me, delightful to look at in both modes but can be a bit fiddly, same goes for Tracks/RoadRage.

So all things considered, my order of must have is:

- Bumblebee
- Sideswipe
- Prowl, Streak or Wheeljack or Tracks


Now if you are willing to go one size class and price point up, Ironhide/Ratchet have just the most divine transformation and are tremendous fun to play with. Ironhide is actually vying for my toy of the year.

Above all I should stress, I don't think ANY of them will lead to disappointment, so why not go for the character you have the most attachment to. I love absolutely all of the above toys and can;t imagine being without any of them. Of the cars, only Smokescreen was a disappointment, but I remedied that with Reprolabels racing sticker set, now he's in the same league as the rest.

Can't go wrong mate, can't go wrong.

Prowl. He's the only one I got myself. Its funny to find his Masterpiece so satisfying and there are no "extras" with his set. Just his Acid Pellet Gun. LOL Get him. He is as close to perfection as one can get, and I challenge any manufacturer to create a more streamlined homage.

 

Prowl is pretty awesome. His transformation isn't the most fun, though.
Sideswipe has a great transformation, although I think Tigertrack has the best colour scheme of that mould.
Bumblebee is great, but I am partial to MP-21G. Really fun, satisfying transformation.
Wheeljack has a satisfying transformation and great articulation. Although if you're a fan of cartoon-accuracy I'd hold out for the MP-20+ release.
Tracks is ok.
Ironhide is the best though, if you're willing to spend a tiny bit more. So much character!

Prowl for me as well. Just awesome in every respect.

Wheeljack is nice but the white plastic doesn't feel quite as premium. Also, Prowl seems like the more important character to me.

Bumblebee, IMO, makes too much of a sacrifice in bot mode in order to achieve a realistic VW alt mode. He's a fine figure but just not quite as "perfect" in my eyes.

 

You can't go wrong with any of the carbots IMO. But the Lambo mold and the Datsun mold are musts in any MP collection. Go for Sideswipe or Prowl if you want show characters. But I'm partial to G2 Sideswipe and Blue Bluestreak, if you want to go for a non-show deco.

 

Streak, Sideswipe or Ironhide. I think the vans are pure genius, to get as near as to cartoon bot mode out of that can is pure magic.

 

They are all pretty great and Sideswipe is my fave.....

But I recognize that Prowl is the better toy. And cool as hell.
