my kid only wants cartoon appearing guys, so I bought ( two ) of the Sixknights version and that is the only reason I dont buy this version. I figure even if the new titans return Quickswitch is a good toy , its still not going to be a unique mold ( as I will be buying sixshot for my kids ) so FP Sixknight was priced less than the takara one and is an unique mold to boot.

Still great toy, seriously in awe of it

Why is it such a surprise? If a product wasn't attractive to someone, a price drop doesn't change it; especially when is no where near that "hot item" time period anymore. This isn't 2012. Too much stuff is dropping and consumers have to be more conscious even when choosing products they actually really want, let alone stuff they don't. Spoil of riches.

Like a few people here, I recently got mine at a discount, and I'm pretty happy with it for the most part.

Just a couple of modes need some tweaking - mostly to accommodate both sets of handguns simultaneously.

Thanks heaps primalxconvoy, for your "fan configurations" of the various modes, which accomplish this; I got some great ideas off them!

Inspired by your first jet "fan mode" attempt, I found the solution to the stress problem: don't rotate the torso, instead leave it in 'robot-mode' configuration - including leaving the shoulders as is. Then configure pretty much everything else as per your initial effort.

As well as there being no stress on the shoulders, other benefits I've found are that you can leave the drill bits folded up on his back (I think they look a bit odd, sticking out of the back of the jet mode), and it also enables the small handguns to be attached to the torso (as in animal mode).

While I liked your positioning of these guns (in the robot-mode fists), the benefit of this configuration - whether the gun-barrels are telescoped or not - is that they work perfectly as 'landing gear'; positioned as they are in exactly the right place so that the jet will balance (on a flat surface)!

    See pics below.

I don't think I'll ever use the stock configuration for the jet-mode again!

That's a nice fan mode. I'm going to try that one myself. Seriously, more people should give this toy more love. The original colours got a ribbing in the video reviews I watched at YouTube, but I can't see why these colours are bad. They are certainly not any worse than G2 and are just as "strange" as Apeface, Darkwing Skullcruncher, etc. It's just a great toy and more than worth it for 40 dollars.

I debated it at $40, but at the end of the day I really don't care about Quickswitch or even know anything about the character. I wouldn't be surprised if they bought they still don't sell out at this price. Its just a very mediocre looking figure, the kind that had it been released under the official banner probably would have been shit on mercilessly.

If this was official, I'd love it. The joints are tight, the transformation not overly complex and it's an obscure character, which is something I like, as usually Hasbro won't make an official version of (even though, possibly as a repaint, they will).

This character is meant to be related to Sixshot (his "son"), for those that don't know him.

Personally, I'd love to see this rereleased, in black, as a Headmaster. The area that series his regular head could easily accommodate a mini figure and the regular , both G1 and this, looks like the boxy Headmaster style heads, sure to coming out aground the same time probably.

I found a great unofficial beastmode. A thicker handle on the large gun would have made this the perfect official mode.

    Sorry for the necro-bump.

I just picked up this guy in Hong Kong - he's been a minor item on my list for a while now. If there's anyone out there who's still enough of a fan of the figure that they can be be bothered answering, I have a question or two...

    1) I've just finished reading through the thread, and it seems like he has issues with the ratchet joint for the drill. How hard is this to fix, and does anyone have instructions/a link thereof re. how to do so? It sounds pretty straightforward, but I'm a bit new to modding figures so the more info the better.

    2) It really looks like his weaker alt-modes can be improved a lot with a bit of fan-mode tweaking. What do people recommend re. unofficial configurations? The pseudo-jet mode above looks much better than the 'official' sort-of-boat mode.

    Cheers all. :)

I agree on the fan mode jet, I think I'll be using that from now on.

I can't really say I've had a problem with the drill ratchet, thought it does feel weird.

Anyway, some love for this figure below :D

I just received mine today from BBTS. For the $40.00, I think he's a great rendition of this little-loved character. Certainly I feel safe in saying we're unlikely to get another 3P stab at Quickswitch anytime soon, if at all. My collecting is very much driven by my childhood collection, and I always enjoyed my old Quickswitch. He was just so...goofy. I'd feel remorse if I lost the opportunity to pick this up. But the other thing that having him makes me reflect on is Fansproject and the early days of 3P.

Fansproject made nice stuff. Goofiness of the alt modes aside (which is at least faithful to the original :p ), this is a good figure. The materials feel nice (I've always been partial to whatever plastic it is FP uses), the engineering is good, and the deco is well done. The exposed ball joints on his feet seem a little amateurish but, that and his high stylization aside, he fits in pretty well along MP/CHUGsterpiece figures well. I remember when FP was king of 3P Mountain. What happened to them? The whole hobby passed them by almost overnight, it seems. It's a bit of a shame. The closest thing we have to an FP now, in terms of anticipation of and excitement for releases, is probably FT or XTB, maybe IF. It would be interesting to do a "What If" and see what things might look like had FP stayed relevant.

Anyway, I'm glad to have him, and to fill that particular void on my shelf. I'm even more glad I didn't buy him when he came out for $100. NOT a $100 figure, by any means. But $40 is quite reasonable; you can pay almost that much for a lot of Legends 3P's now. More people should open their hearts and shelves to characters that didn't get much attention in the 'toon, etc.

I agree, he's a fun figure despite his flaws. If anyone is going to pick him up now is the time, $40 is less than a leader class figure these days lol. The same goes for the whole Function X line, they're really affordable right now and once they're gone that's it.

I'm a big Quickswitch fan in fact he was definitely one if not my favourite g1 toy due to what he could do and I always felt he pulled all his modes off quite well so I've wanted an updated version of this much loved character for quite some time.
The repaint of tr Sixshot just really didn't do it for me although I did consider it many times like this loverly bot FansProject Madlaw.

Everytime I've looked at picking him up due to some of his alt modes and the price I declined in the past, but recently I did a review on my original g1 Quickswitch and my love was re-kindered for the character so I started again hunting down one.
It's was a nice guy called Harry on fb sales that did me a great deal on mine boxed and complete with all his guns in excellent condition for the age of the bot so thanks mate much appreciated this was a few months back now and only just having the chance to have a good mess around with him recently.

1st impressions I love his robot mode theres so much detail and articulation which is highly impressive for such an old figure 2015 I think?
He has some very cool details like his flip down targeting shades and pistols mounted on his hips ready for a Western style draw.
He doesn't have any heel spurs but you can easily adjust the beast feet in the back of his legs to balance him instead.
The only 2 things that bother me in this mode is the knees and the wing sections that stick out behind him but I don't honestly see how else they could of accomplished all the modes without those being that way.
In the comparison pictures the reason I have put mft Sixshot next the Quickswitch side is I also recently got the new jinbao Sixshot to replace my legends plus mft one (on the far left) and my plan was to customise mft Sixshot into a legends Quickswitch similar to the tr one (still not 100% sure how to modify him enough to represent the character though without still looking too much like a recolour of Sixshot like tr)
Now onto those modes starting with what was my favourite of the g1 modes, I liked how they did a Puma or at least that's what I felt he most represented this however is a wood runner I think?
I felt a bit let down by it to be honest the head has ear and mouth articulation although a bit robotic ( I did consider picking up an old junker g1 Quickswitch and modifying that Puma head to go on this instead)
Looking down he has a massive gap where the 2 head pieces come together in a v shape I know the pistols are meant to go mostly over the top of that to try and cover it but its still very gappy with them.
The back end too is a bit strange and I felt could of been approached better somehow. I know my g1 Quickswitch is mis-transformed there that makes him look higher but I just prefer him that way and always have and in comparison makes FansProject version looks very flat.
Drilltank I quite like what they did with this one it looks futuristic and quite funky lots of places to mount his guns too, the only issue with the altmodes on this figure (Not including the Beast mode strangely?) Is they don't tab in well in places and with the old g1 version he had strong ratchets that kept him in the alternative modes so much better that it gave him so much more play value.
Boat mode pulls off quite well too, I see what there trying to go for here with the nod to the g1 with the yellow window and white background the nods are sometimes subtle but appreciated but someone who owned and loved the g1 figure like myself.
Guns on the boat mode just kinda sit there and don't tab in well which is a bit of a bugger.
Gun mode is pretty cool and has a lot going on in it looks quite impressive over the original but again due to not tabbing in some places doesn't hold together that great and quite sharp in places the g1 is a lot more comfortable to hold for long periods of time.
Finally Spaceship mode I like too but the wings are a little floppy non locking to postion but works well in general and looks better than the g1 in my honest opinion.

So upon talking these pictures this is the 2nd time transforming him and its more a case of knowing what the shape is your trying to achieve then twisting and turning different things to get to that mode. First I followed video guides as I've wanted this for so long and didn't want to break him, but 2nd time I still needed an image of the completed alt mode to then figure out how to transform him to that as some of the modes are quite bizarre and daunting to get to at first glance.
The drill ratchet is VERY Strong on a very thin bit of plastic so be careful when using it he seems to of inherited his g1 Counter parts weak neck joint in this way as well lol.
If your a big Quickswitch fan like me I would highly recommend picking him up.
I would also love to see another attempt now at this by Hasbro or a 3rd party company with how much things have come along inbthe last 7 years it could be an excellent figure.

FansProject had some neat designs. Quickswitch should probably be larger to in order to pull off better transformations and modes. A larger size will help store pieces better during transformation.

I got an explanation; Quickswitch/Six-Knight was cold constructed, maybe an Autobot experiment. Sixshot felt they had no one to give him an adequate challenge so he, out some weird sense of honor, used his own spark to "jump-start" the lifeless Autobot six-changer online.

Glad I was able to get mine a year or two back when this was on sale - a good sale. Just couldn't accept that repaint of Sixshot.

Fansproject is donezo, but does anyone remember they teased a verison of the madlaw mold with a new head and color scheme based off sixshot? Like it was quickswitch dressing up as his father, prehaps honoring him? It was a cute idea imo.
