Man... looking at some comparison pics of Mightron vs. Despotron, I dunno, but Mightron looks SO MUCH BETTER.

I liked the transformation of Despotron from the videos I've seen, but the fact that he is shorter and that helmet just doesn't look right, for all of Mightron's faults, he does seem to be the better choice.

It's really interesting to see the polar opposite reviews. Some love Mightron, some love Despotron, some look at the Apollyon on their shelf and say, "g'nuff"

 

I think that shows that none of them quite hit the mark. Doesn't look like TT will either....don't get me wrong I like both of em.

 

10 years ago, I didn't think a Megatron like this would ever be possible. Now we have half a dozen of them!

How many modern transforming G1 gun mode Megatrons are there now? Hegemon, MP-5, Apollyon, Mightron, Despotron, and MP Megatron v2.0?

 

yeah it's pretty cool that people have their picks. mightron hit the closest to what I wanted in photos, and impressed me even more in hand.

I still might get despotron, but it will be to just have another cool megatron, not to replace mightron by any means.

the official (if it is that) doesn't look that good to me atm but it's early and things can change. if it looks good and pulls off an impressive transform in the end, I will have to reevaluate.

also if anyone has specific questions about mightron that I might be able to answer, I will try.

 

Getting both Mightron and Despotron. Have the original MP I picked up in HK still misb. No intersest in opening it. And I have no interest in Apollyon at all. If MP 2.0 does come out I'll pick that up as well.

 

How much does Mightron weigh?

Huh? I was just wondering if someone could tell me how much he weighed, knowing that Despotron weighs like a pound.

 

my scale is dead but it might be a bit more than despo since the entire gun barrel is solid diecast.

concerning those silver bits I was discussing a couple pages ago (the ones that store in the chest and form the back of the gun), I clipped the tab that connects them in about half of its original length and sanded it on all sides. works like butter now, no force needed to press the bits together or to take them apart.

transform is so smooth now that I have it down/memorized. about a 3-4 min transform when you know where everything has to be and how all the mechanisms work. like an absolute dream compared to old mp5 megs.

 

Can you show some pictures? Don't have Mightron yet.

 

Of the silver tabs or just mightron in general?

Regarding the tabs, you will know them whether you want to or not when you try to go back to robot mode. They were really really difficult to separate for me but that might just be my toy. Thats why I'm not saying this is a necessary mod or not, the tolerances may be different for everyone there.

Got an alert saying my package arrived today. Get home from work and there was a package on my porch BUT when I opened it it was Despotron not Mightron which bummed me out been waiting for Mightron for a week now and already had Despotron coming from BBTS but he's been stuck in Purgatory aka the warehouse for a week.

 

Did you order 2 Despotronsi? My bbts order finally shipped today if that helps any. Hit send last Wednesday.

 

I can try snapping a pic for you tonight. Extremely easy mod if you end up having the same issue. Takes less than a minute to clip the tab with a fingernail trimmer and just gently sand down the edges.
The mod will not be visible in either mode either since those tabs hide in the chest in bot mode, and join together to hide the tab in alt mode.

The main thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger (ha!) on Mightron is the hip swivel. Can you speak at all to any awkwardness posing the legs from under the skirt, or how it looks?

 

sure. you basically have to tilt the front skirt up just a bit to get the rotation. it's barely noticeable either.

due to the nature of the transformation, he also has another bit of added articulation where both hips can actually PIVOT backward to add a slightly wider and more natural stance. this is because both legs pivot back to a center point during transformation to bring the legs closer together. not anything major, but it can actually give the illusion and poses that a waist rotation would give without lifting the front skirt at all.

kinda hard to visualize without pics but it's an interesting added bit of articulation that actually helps out with the waist rotation having to rely on the skirt to be lifted slightly.
