Can see this guy having a nice chuckle when we all get our Megs 2.0 and realise this was the collector card art. You're not fooling me son, Megs is so confirmed right now :D  Seriously, damn wow!

No, if you look at the "blocks" of the photo, you see way to many color differences; light gray, dark gray, black, whereas the gray prototype is just plain gray, so if you would make it "blocked" (blurred), it would never end up looking like that photo. Therefore the photo is not a blurred image of the real gray prototype, but probably a photo of Optimus Prime with some third party Megatron, which has been blurred just to make people believe that this person has an exclusive photo or something, but it is nothing.

No, that is why I wrote that "someone" is trying to be interesting or something. I know that you got this from FB, where some nobody posted this. Sorry for any confusion caused. It was not a stab or anything at you.

I would think so. I'm still unclear as to whether the front diagonal "zigzag" hip skirts are there just to facilitate articulation, or whether they are part of the transformation (or both.) But either way, it looks like there's only a minimal amount of kibble in terms of the hips and waist, and I suspect part of the reason for that is because of a very efficient collapsing of the legs... perhaps by accordion or folding as you suggest. Looks as if only the side hip skirts will have to pop into place once the legs are transformed (though granted, we haven't seen the back good yet.)

Between that and the (apparently) false (or at least double layered) chest, this almost has to be Takara right? I would almost say Kobayashi and Tomoya working together again, as it reminds me simultaneously of MP Hot Rod (the shoulder and chest area being so layered as parts probably fold over one another and tab into place,) MP Ironhide (again the double layered chest as a means of making something seemingly impossible elegantly work,) and MP Shockwave (the leg and foot design.)

The apparent lack of over abundant panel forming screams Takara. My only remaining question is still: will it be something that actually gets released?

I'm getting my popcorn ready for when people start bitching about the backs of the thighs and other inconsequential details, leading to proclamations of...
    -The death of Masterpiece
-That bastard Kobayashi MUST have designed it
    -Please, PLEASE bring Hasui back

    QFT.
I don't care who's designed it, if it looks half as good as this, I'll be chuffed.

The proportions don't match any of the existing third-party ones, though. As for the color variance, I'm pretty sure those are just shadows. If it were, say, Despotron, ignoring the proportion differences, there'd be way more black and red.

This Megatron makes me want to spend $400 on Despotron and this, because it's such a good, accurate rendering of Megatron. Typical Kobayashi fail.

I'm not sure why he/she altered your picture and reposted - it's actually incredibly rude.

If that's going to be done, at least leave the signature intact, give credit to the original creator, and make it clear that all you've done is tweak their work.

Another detail that has me convinced this is real. Compare the prototype's inner leg detail:

to quite possibly the greatest image of Megatron from the original cartoon, ever:

That leg detailing is a near 1:1 match. I haven't really seen any 3Ps attempt to accurately capture the inner leg greeblies quite like this.

P.S.: Megatron was our greatest President.
