G1 Jetfire. I was 10 or 11 years old, and soon after I started playing with him I began to feel really underwhelmed. He had several annoying QC issues, and the fact that he looked nothing like my scientist hero Skyfire on the cartoon quickly began to bother me. It was an early lesson in buyer's remorse :D

TR Wheelie. If the little bugger stayed together in vehicle mode he'd be much better, but as it is...Meh.

I hate to say it... but... the recent TRU MP07 Starscream. I was dying for a Starscream. Love the character. But that seeker mold just... no. I'm actually downsizing my collection soon as I want to prioritize other things in my life, and I'm going to be selling him.

He looks great... but that seeker mold super stiff articulation is just a killer for me. Posing and playing with him is a chore.

I'm going to have to pipe in again: TR Ravage. What a wasted opportunity. And dammit if it isn't a hard-to-resist character. The jaguar mode feels so incomplete. It has gaps and panels where it shouldn't. The plane mode is such a nothing, forgettable like fortune cookies. Laserbeak is also down there, but I found an alternate transformation for his vehicle mode that makes it bearable. So glad I didn't find Buzzsaw. I don't need two of those.

Robot Replicas Frenzy. That's when I learned NOT to buy a toy just to have the character.

    Other disappointments:
    Dr Scalpel (broken legs)
    RotF Brawn (so much kibble)
    Ripclaw (rubbery head)

I generally avoid buying figures I know will disappoint. I bought Spinout on a whim when he went on sale for $49 last month, and while at the time I was like "he's not so bad" that feeling eventually changed and I sold him for $60. Believe the hype.

Shockwave told me that the days of high-quality figures had come and gone. Only with CW onwards have I felt those days may make a comeback.

I finally caved in and sold mine, he just looked so cheap and sickly next to my other figures. Aside from the thin plastic and scrawny limbs, his gun's tip never stayed in place and his joints wore out very quick. If I had to give him one redeeming feature, it's his light piping.

Yeah, I think all the movie toys were like that. For me I know this will be sacrilege but the MP Rodimus really disappointed me. I wished Hasbro would have packed him in car mode like Takara did. The other that was a big letdown was the MP-5 Megatron. Ugh, very fragile and very difficult to transform. Hell, MP Optimus and Soundwave were simple.

I think we all have a list somewhere in our minds with purchases that have disappointed. A few transformers that jump out at me would be classics Ratchet and Ironhide, some of the wfc molds like Magnus and starscream, which I found to be too small. Also, generations Blitzwing was s big letdown for me - I love the character but could not get into the toy.

There may be a few others, but the list of transformers that I have acquired and love is far longer than this list!

Probably the RTS Casseticon tanks. The piledrivers were way too sensitive and nothing really held together in tank mode.

Your welcome. With a little bit of modification he can be a pretty good figure. :)  don't sell him short.

The most recent figure I've been disappointed in was CW Victorion. The issue with the torso mold in the legs and the misassembly that caused the stress marks on the knees was bad enough. What didn't help was the QC issue on Dust Up that did not allow her to line up right in car or arm/leg mode (it essentially kept causing the back end of car mode to come apart after a few seconds). I was so disappointed, I took a 50% loss on what I paid just to be rid of it.

Interesting replies in this thread

Was not happy with the RID 2015 toy line. Those are the most recent ones that come to memory. Steeljaw in particular.

I think most of the Armada era purchases i made were disappointments! TR Skullcruncher was a big disappointment most recently.. but anymore with all the internet reviewers (and me being a bit addicted to them) I have a pretty good idea of what i'm getting before i ever order.

RID Quillfire, 'specially after hearing good things about him. These newer figures feel so cheap and flimsy. Hollow parts everywhere and mine even came disassembled in package!

    Awful toy, awful toyline.
