There's lots to like and dislike about all of the versions available. One thing I really like about Despotron is that he's out now. I look forward to seeing what this prototype turns out to be (TTak or ?), but I'm pretty comfortable sticking with a 3rd party purchase here, especially if he looks just as mean as DX9's imposing Tyrant (not Galvatron).

 

I go away for a few hours, and the board get delusions of grandeur... so many lists posts in this thread.

The next two weeks will be murder waiting to see if this is legit and the final mold/design.

 

Also, if you look at the ankle/shin area, the way the bottom part of his legs...flares out? Looks like bellbottoms? is definitely a signature of TT MP design. You rarely see that on 3P MP attempts.

 

I as thinking he same thing. Of course I didn't and now I have to wait. So many people trying to unload Apollyon.

 

Well, with some trepidation, I am very much looking forward to this MP... If the rumour ends up being true. I don't think he's perfect but certainly looks better than Apollyon (who is my current MP 2.0 stand in and, IMO, looks better than the other offerings).

'Tis a thing of beauty. This is easily one of my most anticipated figures of all time. The prototype is beautiful, and the design cues from other TakaraTomy masterpieces seemingly confirm its authenticity. I'll be preordering Megatron as soon as he becomes available!

 

Definitely looks like a Takara. Skinny feet, cartoony proportions.

 

Have they confirmed that rumor is true yet?

 

I dig the skinnier lower legs, and appreciate that the guy isn't bow-legged.

Now where's the optional trigger-crotch??

 

Whew. Cancelled my Despotron preorder this morning, and he literally became available later today. Dodged a super bullet there.

Don't get me wrong: Despotron looks awesome, and I hope he'll be a great figure for whoever buys him. But I don't need three Megatrons. Now I need to sell my Apollyon.

 

Looking at the two Megatrons side by side, you can say whatever you want... but there\'s no question the one on the right would kick the ever-loving shit out of the one on the left, so THAT\'S the Megatron for me. A Megatron that\'s not a total badass is no Megatron at all.

 

Well, they're running out of A-tier characters, with the exception of the Triple Changers and S3 bots...so bring on MP Devcon after this!

Yup, the more I look at this, the more I think it's official. Not just the fact that the grey color of the resin they're using seems to match with the original MP Starsaber proto pics, but the feet design and the way it looks like his legs separate is very reminiscent of MP Shockwave. I just hope that the stability is really good. My main problems with Apollyon are that he can't hold his gun out outstretched (the replacement shoulder joints are super, super tight, too) and the hips always come unclasped. So if this fixes those things, it's winning right there.

I think proportions are really a matter of preference. I think the IDW crowd will go for Despotron or Mightron, but I think the G1 anime fans like myself are going to go for this for sure   

EDIT: the one thing that bothers me though, are the hands. They look good, but they don't look like anything we've seen on a TT MP before, so that has me a bit puzzled... the post MP-10 MP's have all had the same mushroom peg/wrist swivel construction, and this seems different. May be because of space issues though.

 

And to think I shelled out $200 for Apollyon in July at TFCon.   Guess he will go on my Megatron shelf now. If/when this guy gets released, he will be going on the MP Deception shelf.

 

Everything looks good, except the feet. They're so small.

 

Yeah, I think this was evident with inferno and grapple. I wont be surprised if we see trailbreaker and hoist soon. I just preordered mightron and despotron, darn. Well I wouldnt be surprised if we get a new 3p optimus in retaliation. LOL
