The next specialty series Pop and Dorbz announced I can see a lot of people going after Casey Jones. Already sold out at BBTS
So, with a 50% discount opportunity and Pop-in-a-Box saying chances are 3x above normal this month to get a random exclusive from your customized wishlist, I bit the bullet and subscribed on a 3-pop box plan for $20. I suspect I will like whatever I get and want to continue this plan, so this way when the bill comes next month I'm all set.
Saw two of those Target exclusive Winter Soldiers a couple of hours ago. Would've been cool if it was a two pack with Iron Man blasting his arm off.
Just got the Hermione Hogwarts Express Carriage, so now I have all the Harry Potter Pops! Until First Task Harry comes out on Sunday... EDIT: Nothing at Target today. I'm hoping he shows up online soon, cause I don't want to go back just for another disappointment.
Pop in a Box is a fucking rip off. Specifically told them NO DORBZ. They sent me three Dorbz - Alice in Wonderland (live action movie), Falcon, and Nebula from GOTG. Not even a fucking chase or exclusive despite crowing about it being 3x as likely, too. Only cost me about $20 and it still feels like I was cheated.
I never understood the appeal of the "box" concept. Seems like all you get is a common POP you probably won't want plus a bunch of extra "crap". If people want that stuff, why not just go buy it knowing what you're actually getting?
Well, the idea is you can specify the POPs you want and those you don't want, along with the ones you already own, so you supposedly only get the ones you want and don't own. The appeal is getting something valuable like an exclusive or a larger POP item like a Rides for a low price, or otherwise hard to get figures mailed to your door. It also is nice because the more you buy, the marginally lower the price per POP gets and it makes it easier to make other people do the searching for the pops you want and mail them to your door. Particularly good for people who live far from commercial areas.
The rock candy figures are really tempting for me. The thing is if I get one, I know I will want them all.
Funko finally announces a Qui-Gon Jinn POP! The downside is that it's limited to NYCC, as it's limited to 2,000 pieces so it will never be leaving NYCC. I've never seen such anger from POP fans. This is going to get scalped so bad.
Are all the NYCC exclusives just exclusive to the convention? or will some of them get released as retail exclusives as well? like the SDCC exclusives.
The ones that have "XXXX Pcs" on the box are exclusive to NYCC. The ones that don't are shared with retailers, same as SDCC. Qui-Gon Jinn is limited to 2,000 pieces, so he's NYCC exclusive. Legends of Tomorrow Hawkgirl just has a generic NYCC sticker, so she will show up at a retailer on 10/6 (Barnes & Noble for her).
Sucks for Star Wars fans in general. I think this is the first time Funko has made an actual main character to a movie a limited piece exclusive. Usually, they just make niche Hanna-Barbera stuff and variants the limited runs.
Shoutout to @Jacer for hookin me up with Lemmy so I wouldn't have to wait for BBTS to get him in Rest in Peace, Lem \m/ EDIT: Few more
It's the Ace of Spades! Saw him at Hot Topic a couple weeks ago. Very tempting. Sucks that Hot Topic doesn't do their buy one get one 50% off sales any more. Stupid 30% off.
Still sounds like an okay deal. I don't have any other Funko, but judging by the ones I've seen in person and online, he feels different. Of course Funko covers all kinds of celebrities and famous cartoon/video game/movie characters, but Lemmy stands out from the others. I think it's a combination of the headsculpt and the fact that it's Lemmy they're emulating, as he was quite a unique man
Is it known what stores will be selling the NYCC POP!s of Batgirl, Joker, and rainbow Batman? I wasn't interested in the Batman before reading Trinity #1, but now I kinda want him.
Finally found the Target exclusive First Task Harry, and now I can once again say my Potter Pop collection is complete!
