I just recently bought a MISB Rub sign Soundwave (along with a MOSC Blaster) and I noticed something weird. The toy looks as though the left flap may have been opened before due to some color break but the inner flaps have zero color break. And the tape looks original on both ends.

Maybe the plant this was made at in japan accidentally rebent the flap? Would this still qualify for AFA red label grading? Just curious. Here are some pics.

Anybody know roughly how much an Original AFA 85 MISB Powermaster Optimus Prime is worth?

I've never really seen one on ebay, but hear they don't go for too much. Thanks!

There's a seller on eBay that has lots and lots of AFA 80-90 MISB Transformers for sale. The seller lists them all at various starting prices with a Buy It Now option. The starting prices are very high. Just a year and half ago I bought an AFA 85 Brawl for 700$ on eBay. The seller, if he had that item, would be asking in the 2000-2500$ range for it. Almost all of these auctions the seller listed have no takers, so the seller relisted them all with the same starting prices as before. I know this because there's an item I want from the seller I can't afford in which the seller relisted at least FOUR TIMES with the same starting price as before.

It is clear to me that the seller is trying to artificially drive up the prices of AFA Transformers. That bothers me because any other seller might look at this seller's prices and conclude that is what the market is going for. Doesn't eBay discourage this practice by increasing the listing fee the more the starting price is raised and by having a fee if the Buy It Now option is used.

So, how can the seller continue to list and relist lots and lots of items at high starting prices and with Buy It Now option without losing money? Does the seller really have deep pockets or is there a loophole that allows the seller to avoid the high listing fees when the items are relisted again and again?

I would simply suggest that if you disagree with a price then don't pay it. That way your vote is cast as to pricing

Almost all Soundwaves have this from the factory. They opened them back up to put that cardboard sleeve in there. AFA should be able to grade it red label. They do know about this. I haven't seen a graded Soundwave without this color break. Normally always the left side.

It sounds like you got a good deal on the Brawl. I doubt it would be listed for 2500 though. More like 1400 obo then you could possibly buy it for 1k depending what the seller has into it.

I don't think the seller is trying to artificially drive up the prices. I think he knows what they do sell for. As most graded sales go on off Ebay. The seller is probably experienced in selling and knows what they have sold stuff for in the past. If it is the seller I think you are talking about, he is a really cool guy! I believe he has best offers on every listing and is a good friend to the community.

Also it never hurts to just email a seller and say "Hey whats the best you can do on this figure?" I've honestly never seen the point in lowering a price for a relist when there is a best offer option and a message option on a listing. When I shop if I see something and I don't want to pay the asking price I just send the seller a message. Sometimes I get the item for what I want to pay sometimes I don't.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

I know the seller you are referring to. Yeah, some of his prices are really ridiculous in my opinion. I've recently acquired some AFA items from him, and I've probably paid a little more than I should have.

At the end of the day, no one else seems to have the items that he has, which is why I keep going back to him.

Sometimes I see the prices and think theres no point even trying to negotiate. I can buy something not graded, get it posted to Australia, post it back to AFA, purchase the exact case type I want, pay for shipping back to Australia. And its still cheaper.

That is a great looking Galvatron! I also have That Takara reissue Galvatron with the Anime colors. Mine is also graded AFA 100 overall. You can click the link below to see the pictures. For what ever reason I have seen a lot of those Galvatrons since they were released in dead mint condition. The QC at the factory was better on those Galvatrons than any other Transformers reissue release I have seen. I think it was the last Takara release before Tomy merged with Takara. I also have that same Galvatron (Grey) as you with a AFA 95 overall.

Dude, both of your Galvatrons helped me decide to take a chance and buy a second "Legends" (LG23) Galvatron. :lol

The first one I got had some factory defects that I have never seen before. Ever. And I think they were minor enough that it passed their "C-9" standard. The second one does not have any of these defects, but I am presuming that it will get an AFA 85-90 because of the scuff mark on the window. And the rest, minus six pieces (and counting), have packing debris inside the box. Slight annoyance at this point. Plus, I am sure that one of my more recent pieces will receive an AFA 85 grade due to very minor box damage caused during the packing stage. Which is fine since my first AFA piece has similar damage (along with some shelf wear). And I will re-post that image even if it is not a good one.

But besides that... Any updates to your own AFA collection, or anything we have yet seen on your site? :)

My next submission will be to CAS Bert or if I get an AFA 85 prerub Gears I'll be sending it to them for a regrade & bubble protector. AFA stuffed the label on my prerub Cliffjumper to get the support & marked it as 85 series 2...idiots. I sent the 90 Ironhide back in the same submission because they marked the it as a prerub when the rub sign was clearly visible & had an 'R box'. So all they did was transfer the stuff up from one toy to the other & I payed for the privilege. As long as CAS grade fairly, accurately & without damaging anything then I'll make the switch completely. I'll only buy already graded AFA pieces from now on.

Darn, sounds like they did a number on you Andy :(  Sucks. Let us know if you do send something, I am curious to see the differences between them.

Wait, you had a 90 Ironhide? And you send it back???
