Is it weird that I far prefer the original prototype rather than the V2? It looks much cleaner and better proportioned to me. I'd happily buy a CHUG sized version of THAT design, I think it could be really nice.  

 

PLease FansToys/DaLian make a new Soundwave happen! the only that overall bothers me with Mp-13 is the legs and its 'sneaker feet'. The legs on FT-02 here is far superior and more Soundwave too me then TT's

Okay, if you don't like it, and want to see something new, sure, whatever. But how is this "dated"? MP Soundwave looks like it could have been released today, a year from now, heck, five years from now.

People need to stop using words like dated and obsolete, unless they actually mean them. They are not simply synonyms for "old".

Granted, MP Ravage looks a bit old-fashioned, almost G1 toy-like. MMC's Jaguar has spoiled us, I guess.   But it's hard to imagine a new MP Soundwave - at least one that was produced today - looking better than what we got from Takara. Certainly, looking back at FansToys' prototype pics, this sure doesn't.

And yes, taste being subjective and all that... I daresay MP Soundwave is OBJECTIVELY better than what FansToys was going to do. That isn't to say that FansToys' version didn't look nice - and to be clear, I wouldn't call it "dated" either. But FansToys would be crazy to release it at this stage in the game.

If TT designed a new sound wave today it would be different. It would have the advantage of material and design advancements learned through experience. Unfortunately they are just reissuing a old design

Now, I'm not in love with the modern Takara asthetic, that's why I want a new fans toys sound wave. Fans toys engineering and design levels today, are far superior to that of TT from 4 or 5 years ago.

That's my opinion and I'm allowed to have it

I like toy inspired MP figures and Fanstoys certainly hits the mark with their Soundwave. I am not a big fan of TT Soundwave because I dislike the legs/feet.

 

It looks great, but I can't justify buying another Masterpiece Soundwave. I already have a good one I like.

 

Ft's looks more idw/dreamwave inspired and it oooks like the cassesettes are about the same as tt's. Personally I would never buy it, because soundwave is a god in the mp line.

 

Nope, I agree with you. FT-02 was waaaay over detailed, much more so than MP-13. This version just needed a few areas to be cleaned up (mainly the gap in his shins) and he would have been cool.

MP-13 is still better though.

Nope, MP-13 is still not "dated", sorry. You can't point to MP-13 and say "oh, that's SOOO 2013" or whatever, or that MP-13 is somehow "out of style" or old fashioned looking. That's a load of BS.

You can have your opinion; that doesn't mean you're using the proper word to describe it.

Go on, keep using words incorrectly if it pleases you, no one's going to throw you in jail.

EDIT: I would argue that perhaps MP Grimlock, for example, is somewhat dated, as he has certain attributes that don't fit within the current MP design and aesthetic... Scale, the action feature gimmick, closed fists reminiscent of G1. Sure. You could probably say that about all of MP-01 to -09. It was a different era. But MP Soundwave is just as good if not better than recent MPs. If you're not in love with the Takara aesthetic, okay, that's one thing - but it's the current Takara aesthetic. Current. Like, right now. They're still the ones setting the standard.

Also, IF Takara released a new Soundwave, it could be different, sure... But better? How so? Because MP Ironhide/Ratchet, Tracks and Shockwave are so "better" than MP Prowl or Bumblebee? Are they??? Hmm...

We don't know if FT Soundwave is worse or better than HasTak Soundwave because FT Soundwave haven't created yet.

I agree that FT is a bit late if they want to release it.

To be honest, until now my most ideal MP line so far is MP 13 Soundwave (subjectively, I know there is a bias in my opinion) BUT it doesn't mind I will blindly worship him as a perfect thing. There are few things that I hope get better. It is still the pinacle of transformers figure until now but I really wish that someday, some company will make a better one.

I don't want to bash MP13 Soundwave (it is one of the best figure that I have ever messed with) and I don't want to mock Fanstoys either.

I want a choice, a chance that there will be something that might get it better. And Fanstoys, or anybody that connect to them somehow, please, let me tell you: I am waiting for you to make a better Soundwave.

 

I have stopped buying any FT products since their Slag, and I sold my paper weight Bombshield for $40 on ebay, but this Soundwave is the only thing I want from FT, I have MP Soundwave and didn't like it at all. Maybe I'll get a Skyfire too if they decide to make a black repaint in 2019.
