Looks like this is a little shy of DX9's Gewalt, but not significantly so. Gewalt is listed at 24cm, and this at 22cm, so they'd still look good together.

 

This is quite nice. Will probably wait for Fanstoys to get one together though.

 

Were they refining the tail or is that the final? The overall shape of the plane is much better

Im gonna order this, trusting that the final version will match the render and not the prototype. I'll be unimpressed if he's delivered with a gappy tail.

Which page has a render that shows a filled in tail? Everything on the first page shows the skeletal tail with no skin.

I really hope this turns out awesome. KFC seems to have a hit or miss record on quality. I just have always loved octane do this has to rock.

IIRC KFC's Stratotaker is supposed to have rubber tires. Is that true? If it's true, I'm glad that they are going this route.

 

I haven't visited this in a while and I have to say, I am pretty happy with what I see.
-The robot mode looks great. It is impressive to pull off, and it definitely has priority. He actually looks like Octane.
-The face sculpt, while not ideal, is a heck of a lot better than Provider's. It doesn't quite look like Octane, but it looks like he's... healthy.
-The truck mode looks clean.
-The jet mode is better than what I'd expected. While it looks gappy in the back, I like its feel, I guess. I'm not a huge fan of the sharky look, but it's a bit closer to the mark than Provider's Airbus nose and cockpit windows. Another note I'd like to make is that I like the fact that liberty was taken to make the wings look like legit airfoils, however, the fact that they are upside down bothers me a whole lot.

In short, while I feel the need to sing love ballads in front of Provider's house until his parents tell me to shut up and go home, he doesn't quite evoke Octane like this does. I already have a Stratotanker fund going.

 

I'm really confused on this design. When I look at the TF con renders, there is a double hinge on the wings last third which looks like it can shorten the wing in bot mode. I really like that.

But the prototype shots and the later plane renders with the back of the fuselage filled in do not show that double hinge. They are a solid piece.

Does anyone know if the final version will have that great double hinge? If it does, it will really finish make his bot mode spot on. The plan and truck look great already.

 

I really hope KFC keeps the hinges in the wings so we have the option of shortening the wings in bot mode.

 

Same here. Otherwise, how does anyone expect poor Octane to fit through doors?  

 

To be honest, IMO, no hinges'd be fine. Hinges might harm the aesthetic.
