Holy crap those results. Very depressing.

I feel very sorry for all the apollyon owners out there, such a shame to see so many people have made such a poor decision. I guess impatience and desperation won out over sensibility for many people. Me I knew a better megs if not multiple would come along eventually and my patience will have paid off fantastically.

I mean here I thought App sold super terribly but wow, wooowww. haha

The question was who will be though, so even if you own app it still counts as a vote for despo if you intend to sell app and get despo you know. I figure like 99% of app owners would be doing that surely.

Technically the wording of the question was bound to skew it for Apollyon, a better wording might have been one asking of the eventual options which option would you choose for your display if you did not have one to start. As it is many people probably have Apollyon already on their shelf as it is the only one out...

I voted for Apollyon AND the eventual official. The vote for official is of course, only if it is to my liking.

LazaAza, I'm afraid it is you are mistaken about a great many things:D

Like I said, I wasn't desperate about anything...I didn't even care about Tranformers since MP-1 because nothing other than Soundwave looked good enough until Apollyon showed up. It basically forced me back into collecting because I had to have such a beautiful representation of Megatron in my collection.

    Apollyon. Awesome display piece.

I feel sorry for those who find other people's opinions depressing. Those who bought Apollyon didn't necessarily do so out of impatience and certainly didn't do so out of a lack of sensibility. Despotron wasn't revealed at the time that Apollyon came out so we didn't know when other companies were going to jump on the Megatron train. And to be fair, all the fruitless rumors of MP Megs 2.0 were getting really old and tiresome. So if some were quick to get Apollyon, they had good reason.

To each their own. If Apollyon's your MP Megatron, be it for the time being or for good, then more power to you. Takara will have to really wow me to get me to sell Apollyon. He's a beautiful display piece IMO and while Despotron looks fun, he doesn't look like the ideal MP Megatron for my shelf. Plus, it's not fun seeing everyone else's collections if they look just like yours ;)

Personally, I prefer Fanstoys first, Maketoys second and MMC third. Not quite a fan of Megs however but if I have to choose, I will go with waiting. Fanstoys might release it anytime soon and MMC will make MTMTE version of Megatron.

I really believe Despotron will be very solid, Mightron will be far better than average 3rd party stuff and Apollyon was good at his time. Technically, you can't go wrong with any of those choices. So, if you have extra cast, why not double or triple dip? :D

I always loved the way Apollyon looked. I have considered adding Despotron, but ultimately it comes down to my opinion that it doesn't look as good as Apollyon aesthetically, so I don't want to do it. Despotron is nice. I like the different faces, but those legs are killing me. I will keep my eye on it and see if anything changes (in my own head), but I can guarantee I won't be SELLING Apollyon, even if I do decide to get Despotron. Basically, I think I have finally decided against adding it. If an official Takara MP comes out and it is really impressive, I may still go that route and keep one or the other in alt mode or use them on different Deception shelves. But considering the fact that I have skipped the recent Takara MPs of Ironhide, Ratchet, Hot Rod, and Shockwave, maybe Apollyon is it for me.

I purchased MP-05 at release and still display him proudly in the pre-MP10 masterpiece display cabinet.

I purchased two Apollyons and have no regret even after seeing Maketoys and MMC. I just don't see what other people in those two the same way those people don't see what I see in Apollyon (as the first post says 'to each their won, respect that')

If an official Takara one gets released I'll get that one too.

Firstly, many of us are well aware of your insatiable hate for Apollyon. You have made it very clear in other threads together with some other individuals.

EDIT: Leaving out some stuffs out of respect for you.

Clearly, people voted with their wallets and what looks best for them. Implying they are of bad judgement or rather lack of grey matter was quite uncalled for, my friend.
Even with me, who likes Apollyon and continued to take pictures of him, I voted for DX9, why? Because I like different takes on this Decepticon leader. And why not MT? Well, he doesnt push all my buttons. But I will still get him nonetheless. I love Megatrons in may shape and sizes, but feeling depressed when others dont see your point of view, man...you do you. That is all I can say.

Now hang on a second here. We were told by the vocal few that everyone hates Apollyon and that there'd be BILLIONS put on sale because no one is happy with him.

Must be very depressing for them to see that they're full of shite lol

As to the question. Honestly I don't know yet. Only issue I had with Apollyon was with the shoulder joints and that was completely sorted with the parts that came with Andras so he's spot on.

I initially loved the look of DX9 but Ben's video kinda turned me away. The auto morphing is VERY cool but he looks incredibly wooden. Plus as a display piece those screw holes. No. Plus marks for the fusion cannon placing though, I really like how close it is to the forearm even if you can't change the position.

Maketoys is a wait and see. I love that he looks almost Revoltech in articulation but we really haven't seen enough to make an informed decision.

Maketoys *could* sneak it but as it stands 'polly holds his own very well in that spot until Takara shows their hand.

I'm pretty sure Appollyon looks the best of the bunch (even if he isn't the best made)- maybe he doesn't. But nobody is beating him out by a wide enough margin for me to have any reason to consider switching up.

Besides, G1 Megatron has never been a huge favorite of mine to begin with. I always found his bot a bit boring looking. (part of why I like Appolyon best- the other seem to have even less detail)

Apollyon because the aesthetics seems to fit MP-10 the most. I was looking forward to mightron but he looks abit 'chubby' from whatever pictures I see...reminds me of Pat Lee's rendition of him.

Apollyon all the way. Mightron's back kibble is atrocious, Despotron just doesn't hit that G1 sweet spot and Takara will never make another realistic looking P-38 toy ever again.

Despotron as I just love the way Maketoys make their toys look. In the end even if TT make a great official Megatron at worse will go into my shelf of Megatrons and Galvatrons (same with Fantoys Galvatron if an offical one comes out that is better).

A question for Apollyon owners, does he look this cheap in hand? ..i've only ever seen him on pictures, i could live with the dodgy shoulders as i could fix them, i don't even mind the chubby look but if this is the normal quality below with the cheap looking face and chest dints then damn ..id really love to like this figure as it looks the best of the bunch shape wise but just the quality that puts me off, is it really this cheap looking in hand?

I'm going to say yes, parts of him feel cheap also, looks decent standing on a shelf but for something to mess about with then don't bother. I transformed mine to alt mode and nothing tabbed in properly and when I went to go back to bot mode it snapped in half extending the torso.
As for which one on my shelf, haven't decided yet but probably Maketoys.

issues for me the shoulders being too far a away from the torso and how far apart the legs are , legs can be got away with if posed right but the shoulders still bug me a little , other than that i do love the figure albiet i have never transformed it... maketoys is looking better and better

You zoom in on something that much and almost anything can look cheap

My Apollyon looks similar but then again I have to get my face right up to the figure... at normal arms length he 'looks' the same quality as my other MP figures. Standing next to a MP figure they match pretty well.

To me? absolutely. Apollyon was one of my biggest purchase disappointments. Even initially just looking at it through the window of the box I felt that it was low quality. Actually handling it only confirmed it. Leaving aside the looseness/floppiness and finicky transformation, the materials used to make it just felt cheap to me. It was the polar opposite of what I have experienced with MMC or Fanstoys. People rave about the visual aesthetic, which I wont argue with, but I feel like it it totally undermined by the manufacturing choices.

    Maketoys for me...

...because he looks like he can beat the shit out of all the other Megatrons.
