Alot of people are missing a big factor here and no one but me has even mentioned it. Its seems to me that the reason they went back to his older look is simply becuase of the toys. The AOE bumblebee design did not transfer well in toyform, and i dont think it ever will, especially just for a regular main line toy. The 1-3 toy designs for bumblebee worked so well and were good toys. I own like what 10 movie bumblebee deluxes lol. Especially since bee is gonna have his own movie and he is gonna be the toy all the kids want, what kid is gonna want a sucky toy that looks like crap? When you cam have a toy transform properly and look like bumblebee? I honestly think it was a smart move for the revert. As for the others not changing, just in case yall say. Well drift can inprove, hound can improve and so can crosshairs, optimus probs not but he can not revert back becuase he goes with the knight theme.
The designs, aside from Bumblebee, aren't terrible. I can work with those, but I truly feel Bumblebee is the one weighing it all down. Really disappointed in that. It's so incredibly dumb. It's cheap and easy, but still dumb. The AOE toy would've done fine if they had been given more time. Just you wait and see, we'll get an updated and more accurate AOE Bumblebee figure, because Hasbro can't help themselves. You're right about the planning behind it. They can just fire up the old molds with a new nosepiece for the car mode and call it a day. I have a feeling Bay isn't behind this one, Hasbro is. I have a feeling it was all done to be cheap and easy and it's a shame, because AOE Bumblebee had serious potential to be a REALLY nice figure in the right designer's hands. *smh* So disappointing. And wasteful. I'm sure it cost millions to have the AOE model designed, produced and animated. Going back to the old model just seems like a waste of money in that investment. Bay's reused old CGI models before, but only to fill in gaps in the Decepticon army and make the numbers look bigger than they really are. They went out of their way to make new models and even did it again for TLK with Barricade and Megatron, but the rest are pretty much the same, give or take a color choice or two. I'm just mystified at this planning and thinking, it really does seem like multiple steps backward. I'm not running the show and not responsible for any debts they incur, so I can't say I'd do anything different, but I can disagree with it all the live long day. I think it sucks, but there's nothing I can do about it.
If they really did this for the toys, you have to wonder why, when they have been essentially trying to sell this design for 10 years now and the hard dip on movie 3 made them redesign him for 4. There is absolutely nothing new or fresh here. Tweaking the Camaro design got old with movie two, he has always had a really ugly and name-cliche design, and his head is probably the worst TF head of all time. Granted the movie 4 design was equally terrible, but that's what happens when you do stupid things for a living. I think this happened because they simply don't care. They never have. So what's the difference? They are like Donald Trump - do whatever they want and face little consequence among the people who can't help themselves. So the path of least resistance often wins out.
Besides Squeeks, Hot Rod, Megatron and Barricade every piece of concept work revealed has just been reused concept art from previous movies. Most people have been aware of this.
Bee certainly has come a long way from a humble young scout to a fully fledged second in command. Gotta say, he's all grown up.
that is what i ask myself all the time. Why did Bay made im "Quiet" again??? Also, if you played the Movie Games on PS3, like revenge of the Fallen you can hear him talking. If you play as Bumblebee, he indeed speaks clearly at some time.
Roberto Orci said it was decided to keep him mute because the crew working on the TF movies grew to like the idea of him speaking in the radio much better.
Makes you wonder if Hasbro is just gonna dust off the old toys that didn't sell and repackage them at the higher price point? Kids will like the old is new concept, but the collectors will balk at this.
I actually like this! While I did enjoy the dynamic shapes of the AOE version, this seems more like the design I would have expected them to go with. At least they kept the awesome AOE battle mask!
I prefer his Age of Extinction design. It feels like they're over-complicating the designs again, and just going backwards. Really boring.
Nothing too new about his design. Which is okay. It's been five films, he can stay pretty much the same.
