A neglegible vocal minority I think.

You really feel they are, now?

On that MP notion : I don't think that works, because the MP line is waaaaaaaaaaay too limited in width and variation. It's mostly just cars, trucks, one single jet and two exception case guns.

Microscope, no microscope doesn't really matter to me as long as a new figure can capture the characters essence.

In that regard the Chug figure was only so-so and yet was beat to a bloody pulp by the OG figure. Yes, G1 Perceptor is still THE best Perceptor we've ever gotten.

If Hasbro went full-on G1, then the microscope should have a tank mode, too. It's what I'd like to see.

No one ever stated that was a rule to my knowledge, it's just what has been happening.

Not me, preference is Pistol...Microscope... I don't have two preferences. Forget Tanks and Planes for Megatron at least a Gun was something different despite what realism fanatics in a toy robot line prefer. And oh look, the latest Megatron offering is what...a Tank and a Plane...together..so imaginative... At least Blitzwing who is a given for coming was that in G1 already. And oh look RTS Preceptor was just another generic car or truck...whoopee. I bought it once, sold it, the Robot mode was Preceptor enough, but still not quite, and alt mode may have as well been Ironhide or Trailbreaker. Just like the BS of having Blaster and Soundwave as car type vehicles..whoa...such originality... Another car... Soundwaves G1 toon Light Pole mode was more original.

And the rallying cry of CHUG must be for reimaginings is "We already have MP for that" or "it's not G1 anymore" but again, that's never been a true rule that I've ever seen in stone, and no, it's not G1, but when they are G1 characters they can be those characters in deco and looks.

It's not Beast Wars anymore either but the last Voyager Rhinox didn't turn into a jet or a Tank, or a car now did he?

The line is for reimagining characters yes, of course, but it's not the only way we'd ever see the characters in the lines. Which is truly apparent because of the way HasTak is making many of the newer figures, and Takara is doing G1 deco much more heavily than before.

Time to change the rally cry for Classics to "get used to whatever HasTak wants to do with their lines"... Which is what I've been going by since Classics...I dislike IDW designs, but I'm not complaining

Perceptor was a triple changer in G1... I don't give a shit about the microscope mode because it's just not fun to me, I guess. So I'm fine with modern interpretations having different modes.

Does anyone who could say what TR Perceptor's alt-mode is currently know? Much as with Megatron, my views are fairly flexible, and perhaps I am more curious to see what will come and open to seeing how imaginatively and otherwise well-executed every mode may be, whatever the figure. Maybe this is easy for me to say, since I used to collect with near completist tendencies for a few years, and thus have United Perceptor and Megatron and the Henkei version of the latter too.

For all I know a) the designers could have generated some really cool microscope/telescope/scientific installation or vehicle mode, and b) they could have gone with any of those, and for all the other options, we'd be none the wiser. What does seem quite likely however, is that Perceptor's alt-mode will probably need a cockpit to accommodate his TM/Headmaster, which at worst could compromise any microscope mode to the point of it being ruled out, or not. Something like Voyager Astrotrain would have looked even more successful in both vehicle modes were it not for the TM cockpit, but that's the play feature they're running with, and loads of the Deluxes, among others, incorporate and/or hide the cockpit in the design really well. As ever, we will ultimately have to wait and see.

I won't say it's stupid, but c'mon a tank is more fun, and doesn't have to deal with gun laws, and there's G2 precedent.

Take a look at the makeshift tank mode for Perceptor in this pic.

So let's say they do a "Quake" that's a more standard tank, and then they take that and remold the tank turret as a microscope.

Perceptor's Titanmaster rides in the area where the microscope tray folds out. And the transformation works out where he gains a "third mode" halfway through that looks like the microscope. Including where the lid to the cockpit folds down to form the tray. Just like it did in G1.

Yeah, I'd wondered if - particularly were Peceptor to have a tank mode - he might be derived from the Hardhead mold, as Quake is rumored to. While I don't own either version and can't qualify this, I am sure I saw a photo of Legends Hardhead where the the tank mode's main gun could be elevated by flipping up a panel underneath it. I am curious to see if this would allow the main gun to swing downwards. It's probably too long to aim at the hatch that becomes Hardhead's chest, but if something shorter were placed there it might be able to point that far down. This would be great for Perceptor considering his shoulder weapon/microscope was far more compact than what Hardhead is packing, and the forward hatch could be replaced with something resembling the tray. Or this could be a more in-depth retool, as you suggest, or something else entirely.

You know...those would make good Titanmaster heads. You have Dashdrill (Nightbeat's vehicle), Dashjet (Terribull's vehicle) and kind of Dashracer (Loudmouth's vehicle, although I'd make the case for a new mold here).

Minispies would be a good use for the TM releases. Hell, throw on rubsigns again. 5 color variations per figure, and two faction variations per figure. With kids and the need to "catch 'em all", produce an actual cartoon for the line and the money practically prints itself.

The Takara release of Shockwave pairs him with Cancer but I think it should've been a Browning remould. Not like Shockwave can't stand on his own, you know?
