Heh. Yeah, that head really needs to go back to the drawing board, at the very least. They could also add more of Barricade's original design cues that made him and his silhouette so distinctive and unique, to include his "crown" head/face sculpt, the wheels at his shoulders being higher and more jagged, the wheels at his wrists/forearms (I'm not sure that I like having wheels in his lower legs like so many other bot designs), and some more spiky bits on his legs. Basically he's missing a lot of the stuff that made Barricade, Barricade. I can see why there are a lot of complaints about the new design being somewhat more generic, despite all the little police detailing.

Still, this concept art is just that. Hopefully the final CGI design will be altered and slightly different from this.

 

I've always preferred that aesthetic as well. Perhaps if the aesthetic from TF4 was the original, I'd like it more. It still looks pretty cool on screen, though.

 

Yeah but if they went back to what they did before they would have to show them actually transform and shit. Can't have that in a transformers movie.

 

Yeah, it looks cool, but doesn't say transformers to me. It says.. Hey look, this vehicle morphed into a robot.

And now the robots need to be caricatures instead of actual characters.

Barricade with his brass knuckles or whatever just reminds me of how goofy it is to have a joker with a bunch of corny tattoos.

I absolutely LOVED the original barricade design.. It was unique and rather cool looking.. This just looks pretty generic, while at the same time looking like it's trying real hard to be a caricature. I was hoping for his robot mode to look as cool as his alt mode.

 

Y'know, I don't mind some change to the style, but this particular shift just isn't sitting well with me. Like, Movie designs could stand to be cleaned up a bit, humanized to a degree where they can actually emote instead of being pure snarly monsters (they can still be alien, but sentient alien) -- I'm thinking along the lines of the later RotF–>HftD toys.

Barricade, Optimus, these new designs just seem sorta, I dunno... like they got rid of all the extraneous kibble and melted the character into a human mold (car door to shoe horn shape, really?). Wish we'd get bots like Long Haul and Mixmaster again.

It's not like they didn't pull the vehicle panels contorting and bending on the old designs.

 

I like the idea of Barricade always being the bot that gets away. I've been a big fan of his since before the 07 movie even came out.

I love this redesign, although I'm hoping that the face is a battle mask and that the shoulders stick up a little more in the movie (or maybe the toy will have that option) so that he can resemble the original design a little more.

 

Still prefer the 07 and DOTM versions of Barricade. This one isn't bad but he's missing his door 'wings' on the back and he has no claws (those giant fingers) and that head though...

Where the hell have you been? there's already a third party movie optimus and scorponok figures, and paramount didnt do shit.
Not to mention the new announced Leader Shockwave and Bonecrusher toys

 

Design is probably subject to change, especially the head. Wouldn't be surprised if this is kind of near completed concept.

Still though, looks good! cant wait to see him in film.

 

Another pretty good design with a "background character in a video game tie-in" face. If these are legit final concepts, it's incredibly disappointing.

 

I'm really liking these new designs. Love the more human looking robots. Nice little nod to G1 on Barricade's new number. 984...1984, wasn't that when TF started?

 

I'm liking what looks like twin TASERs (the yellow bits) on his right arm

Looks awesome, I just hope that a figure that does it justice can be made

 

Upon a 2nd look, I still like it, but I would like if his head looked a little more like his original head. This one is a bit generic looking. But he looks beefed up!!

 

I'm pleased that he's blue among a sea of grey Decepticons, but I do wish they kept his prior design.

 

Yah man,seems like all the Decepticons are more human looking robots.

 

Which is great, because I hate how all the Autobots looked like they came from a different planet than the Decepticons. About time they look the same.

 

Not to mention the whole set of Transformers from Sir Toys like the Oversized Grimlock, Megatron and I think Blackout. Not to mention other figures they've got.

 

His brass knuckles are engraved backwards so that they read out frontwards on people he punches, but his brass... elbows... aren't.
