No, it's not, but it's basically the definition of insanity when we know that they won't do that at this point. Just saying.

But... That's what the movie designs have always been.
    Drastic departure from G1? Check.
Big chunks of vehicle on robot mode? Check.
Overabundance of vague mechanical parts? Check.

Nothing new and has always been the way official designs go.

Marvel has to answer to Disney, who's been known to be incredibly restrictive when it comes to freedom and control. In some ways, that's a great thing, in others it's bad. More often than not, however, it works out in the end, Disney's been at this a long time.

(Example: Disney made Episode VII and it's not only the biggest moneymaking Star Wars movie of all time, but one of the biggest moneymaking films of all time, period. On the other hand, they're nixing Slave Leia from here on out. No more toys, artwork, etc. Basically ignoring what came before.)

Paramount just wants to make movies that bring in money and Hasbro wants to sell toys. The combo is a proven method that works. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

And that's why Disney/Marvel succeeds where Hasbro/Paramount do not. One actually tries to do at least some justice to the source material while taking it in a new direction, whereas the other doesn't give a damn about it's own creation past a certain point.

If I had one wish for these threads, it would be that people stop saying this. As a Marvel and DC fan for more than 40 years, I'm telling you that 90% of the super-hero movies are no closer to the source material. Some of them are even further from.

I know some gaurdians of the galaxy fans that would punch some one for saying marvel was 100% accurate to the source

I loved the character designs for drift optimus and hound in the last movie. I thought that they were finally going to have characters instead of generic magnets in a scrapyard with only bumblebee and prime being recognisable on screen

then I saw this which is the equivalent of x-men origins deadpool! im not worried about the character because the hotheaded rookie with bags of talent is micheal bays stock hero you give me something like aj from Armageddon ill be happy.

hot rod/rodimus has always been my favourite character sure he gets a lot of stick from those who cried at the 86 movie and they ignored everypiece of development from episode to episode in season 3 but he was my favourite.

I really don't know how I feel about the bay movies I hate the character designs love optimus, hate bumblebee not speaking loved his friendship with sam, heck I liked shia as sam and was really disappointed there wasn't even a throwaway line in the last movie about what happened to him.

I don't like the alienness of the transformers or the focus on the humans but I loved the military guys and cade was not bad. dinobots were cool but really underused. so you see? its been a weird ride for me and im debating in my head whether hot rods design is a step too far....signs point to me giving up on these movies

oh and one detail everybody points out the huge increase in profits due to the movie didn't the classics/generations line start at that time as well?

Agree with you,Bay could have a better design for Hot Rod instead of a Bumblebee look alike.

In what sense, the character designs/behavior or stories?Coz they both are recognizable and their actions and behavior are completely in character..You know that this is something that Captsin America would do and say and thst goes pretty much for every character, where in the tf movies the "characters" are just random names pulled out from a list and slapped on random bot designs doing random out of character shit..I mean apart from the first movie where paying some homage to the originals, the rest of the movies are just random names thrown in there

    Come ON!

You use Cap as an example and that's smart, because he and Iron Man are the closest. Both of them are what I would call accurate to the source material. But after that? It gets a lot further from the source material very quickly.

true but its closer than we've ever got before. the most accurate comic book movie in the past was superman the movie now look at what we've got, marvel and dc doing big crossovers and more amazing movies to come (if dc calm down with the grimness that is)

after the success of deadpool im hoping that there will be a lightening up on the "it doesnt work in real life" argument

I know they can make him look like a proper hot rod, and still transform into a more contemporary car. hasbro, you lazy ways really turn me off.
