Looks decent to me, if a little generic...especially the head. But I don't have any huge hatred of it. I'll look forward to seeing the car mode.

 

Lol well that sure as hell isn't doing anything to increase my desire to see this movie. Another weird Bay-bot sharing the name of an old beloved character and very little else most likely. And because of it, aspects of this design will be worked into future incarnations of the character like how aspects of Movie Prime and Bumblebee were in Transformers Prime Optimus and Bee (among many other examples of that since the movies came out).
Just my opinion but it always feels like the movie versions convolute Transformers with how drastically different the characters sharing names with older versions are. But it sure isn't anything new at this point.
I just dislike it because I know a live action version of most of these characters that is actually somewhat true to the known versions could be just as successful if not more.

I so wish the Bay movies were over with and the whole live action Transformers thing could be rebooted without the stuff so many long time fans have griped about for nearly a decade now. I really feel it could be much more successful than it already is. Like Marvel movies level of successful, where even critics generally don't despise them.

No offense to the legion of Bay movie fans, many of whom got into Transformers with these movies and don't care what Bay does to established characters that have been around for like 30 years. Again, I do realize this is just business as usual for these movies.
As someone else said, at least he's a car.

I can't see anything apart from the red to indicate this guy is Hot Rod but maybe he'll get the flames at some point. Or we'll just get a G1-recolour of the movie toy.

I'm not too fond of the face - it reminds me too much of Bumblebee. Then again, they could be related.

 

That's 1 new Autobot, Can't wait to see the toy if the car is not a major license...

I think that's what cheeses me off the most about Bayformers. You want X Character in live action? Sorry, you're just getting his name and maybe a vaguely fitting alt mode if you're lucky. The doors probably were pointing up at one time, and Mikey-boy said, "Nope, point them down, get rid of the face, and use this color scheme instead."

You're setting yourself up for immense, soul-crushing disappointment.

 

have you watched energon by any chance by the end of amarda hotshot was treated as a very diffrent character to the point they introduced rodimus into energon, i dont think this really counts even though there orginal intentions where to make him hotrod he ended up being hotshot

I like the idea of introducing Hot Rod. I just wish they didn't make him Bee's lookalike brother. Smells too much like easy repaint potential as far as the toy makers go, and lazy writing on the part of the movie creators.

I'll have you know that my grasp of the Chinese language is tenuous at best. Just like your notion that no one likes movieverse films and designs.
