Wow, these look great, and mmc looks even better (these are more g1 toon, mmc got that dw/ox style going for them). If you like wimpy g1 sthle, these are great, if you like that herculean dw style, mmc is the one.

 

First chance this week I have had to sit down and compare/contrast BC's and MMC's versions. Based off SunSurge and Sphinx, I know both will be quality products.

To my eye, it is a very close call, but I think what has me leaning towards BC's version is the face sculpt. Most everything else is kind of a draw/tie for me. MMC has it from the knees down, vehicle modes are roughly the same(I do like the running boards on MMC, but prefer the cab on BC). Transformation is the wild card here, as I am generally not a HUGE fan of BC's traditional methods. Then again, I am reading in this thread that their Trailbreaker will be a more simplified version. Heft and "feel of sturdiness/quality" are two other X factors that won't be known until in-hand reviews are out.

 

I am a huge Trailbreaker fan so I ordered both 3rd party figures. I can't wait. I just can't wait. I'm like a kid at Christmas time since I've been waiting forever for something like this to be done.

I am going to have to wait on reviews before picking up one of these guys. This is going to be a VERY tough decision since both are great renditions.

So far IMO:

MMC Terraegis: Love the chest, legs look great, muzzles of guns look very thin and not as accurate to the toon, love how the chest collapses

BC Speedbump: Better facesculpt (but MMC's I can definitely live with), like the silver weapons over chrome, the shoulder missile torrent needs to be silver instead of dull plastic, legs not as toon accurate (I wish that knee pad can slide up to cover that section of the thighs), chest doesn't collapse as well as MMC

I know they aren't exactly twins, but based on the mold, I am the type of collector that would want to get both Trailbreaker and Hoist from the company and not mix and match. Hope to see MMC Hoist soon.

I'm not sure how anyone says either looks "way" better.
The source material was nailed by both in a way that would have me pulled what's left of my hair out if I wasn't a BadCube ultra fan.
Seriously no loser here. Too bad I'm not into the characters enough to buy all of them.



Edit: interested to see if MMC is shorter than BadCube. It think it is and may sway some towards BC camp.

 

yeah thats one of those cases that even if we had only one of the two we would be happy..They both are that good

 

This may be one of the most competitive releases we've ever had. What an embarrassment of riches we have for choices as 3p consumers.

One thing common to both at least is that its going to be a pain to place the faction symbol on the hood ridge.

Really don't want 2 of the same character, but i think BC truck mode wins, while MMC bot mode wins. I can't decide which is more important to me, normally bot, but that truck mode...

 

I prefer MMCs Hoist over BC (and prefer Hoist over Trailbreaker)... So I think, with the little swoop in BCs TB roof.... I'll go with BC for Trailbreaker, and MMC for Hoist.

Have been starting to mix and match different offerings (MT Grapple and MMC Inferno, and if TT or XTB get an Artfire out, will decide then) instead of going and getting multiple repaints of just one, and kind of enjoying the choices...

Also, with the current quality of official Masterpieces in hand, I had a marvellous epiphany - we are at a wonderful point in this hobby where, for me, 3rd party quality can actually eclipse the official's offerings. And that is a good thing!!!

I'm a Japanese car fanatic and work on cars for a living. The first thing I said about the MMC offering was how much they nailed the Hilux (Toyota 4x4)
If i were you I'd go with the bot mode you like best because both trucks are very very close to the real thing. I didn't own this truck myself but a friend did and I did all the maintenance on it. Both of these nail it.

A nice ocean red autobot symbol with silver backing on the chest is gonna make him pop even more for bot mode, but hopefully still be good for alt mode.

 

Not such a big fan of these. I'll wait for Takara which is bound to come soon due to all these coming out.

Amazing what the grey does for mmc TB. Doesn't look like he plays for the 1983 Boston Red Sox anymore. There just isn't a clear winner here for me.
Badcube facesculpt is way better though IMO. But both are black so don't think it would stand out on a shelf

the comparison of the faces made me so glad that I picked BC , as usual. But I think BC face is 1000 mile better, the ox offer keep looking like Kup or the beastwars ratdog or batdog transformer to me. terrageis nose, lips and ears just don't look like g1 trailbreaker, but I think Bc did a good job with his face.

 

nice comparo picture. i find badcube's to be more accurate in some ways and deatails (look at the alt mode roof shape for one) but seem to prefer OM version because to me, it evokes the FEEL better in bot mode plus providing (to me) a "bettter" alt mode. both are soooo wonderful though. i've wanted trailbreaker since the days of mp-10 with his merry troop of shrimps (the carbots).
