Shame the prerub Prowl bubbles just struggle to hold on these days because it'd be great to see him graded & back to its former glory. Certainly an easy 85 & much better quality than the case find prowl boxes which are noticeably duller than the rest for some reason.

Belated thanks. :)  And also, I need to state that the minor wear around the flap area was not as bad as I first assumed it was. I blame my cognitive OCPD. :lol

And I 100% agree! Because vintage or new, rare pieces tell more of a story than the series or line they are tied to. Which is why I have decided what will officially become my second piece!

That, and I hope what I am hoping to accomplish will help motivate my future kids, as well as those who see what I am trying to preserve.

    AFA90 Megatron

A big thank you to iamratchet for the AFA90 Megatron. Paid an arm and a leg (and another arm and leg) for it but this is the culmination of a lifelong dream to own one of the best Megatrons out there.

Shout out also to jonnyshaft for going beyond the call of duty to get this over the line. Thank you so much. Rest assured that Megs is in good hands!

Now AFA90 Rub-Megs can stand proudly next to his AFA80 pre-rub Megs brother!

I thought it was interesting how the acrylic bars to the side of AFA90 Megs are higher up to 'protect the tape' vs. the AFA80.

Still, love seeing them side by side.

Congrats on the epic purchase! It looks like a great specimen. :)

Also, I found it interesting how the box wear on the front of your Megs is similar to the front of my "Legends" Brainstorm. But, regardless of that, I hope to see how your collection looks when you are done. :)

Updated a lot of my boxes over the years and recently invested in some Acrylic cases for display.

A mix of AFA and MIB in case.

These are my 1984 Autobot Cars :

Please note my 84 Autobots is a "khopson" inspired showcase.

It used to drive me nuts that I would never be able to afford a season 1 AFA set - so have done the next best thing with mib (and some afa).

Over the years I have replaced old beaten up boxes with better ones.

Am stoked that I thought ahead and got pre rub (opened, but WITH bubble) Cliffjumper and Bumblebee.

Seeing the row of Autobot 1984s all together brings me joy!

Now just need cases for all the 84 Decepticons!

    :D

So thanks for the idea (indirectly) khopson! Woooooo!!!!

Sweet mother Cybertron, that is a whole lot of inspiration!!!

But yeah... Nice collection. :)  And I can relate ith the frustration you might be feeling at times. Which is why I am not giving into my hope of finding any 1987-1988 Takara Headmasters, MISB, AFA 85 or higher. And going down a different path, which works for me as well. :)

Awesome. When I die, I'll know that I inspired at least one person in my lifetime. lol

There's nothing more satisfying than getting all of the '84 crew together. If you're in need of any other box upgrades, let me know (or look at my collection link). I have several available. I also have display cases for all of them in the event you need one, including some empty mini car and Constructicon cases.

Gorgeous set of Megatrons man & Congrats on picking up that 90. I never get sick of seeing a 90 Megs....mainly because there's only 3 of them & will most likely never be another

Thanks dude. I am in need of some Decepticon cases in the future.

I guess you especially khopson will understand my collecting journey....

My collecting was so backwards. I collected many as a kid...then as a teenager/young adult I tried to get better condition ones. I collected over many, many years and before ebay blew up the prices of everything. Usually I would buy them off friends who had grown out of them or lost interest. Then became interested in boxes and paperwork later on.... those have probably been the most expensive things to obtain (and still its hard to find good condition ones)

I've spent a fair bit of money on this collection...but mainly as loose collector and then getting average quality duplicates. Then getting boxes after that. I also focussed on 1984-1986 only - collecting mainly from early 1990's til 2010ish.

I still love them. I try to get my hands on better quality ones where I can nowadays, but its so expensive to obtain many of these now.

As a 10 year old kid I had a pamphlet of all the 1985/1986 toys and dreamed one day of having them all. I feel I accomplished that and I'm really happy with the collection. Its been a fun ride. I will always love Transformers. Especially G1s.

Best of luck completing your collection! :)  It can be done! Focus on what you like...concentrate your collection on a specific area and its more obtainable. I just kept extending my net as they years went by :)

I've never seen a graded one sell on the open market so I can't say what they sell for. It's at the top of my wants list and I know I would pay that price maybe for an 80 but not a 75.

Looks like it already sold. The only other sealed Galvatron I've ever seen on ebay went for $18,000 recently. I wish I would have gone after the 75 now because it would have been a holy grail piece for me.

Now it might be years before another one shows up on the open market and that sucks.

Sorry to bring this topic up again (and probably not in the right thread), but I was wondering, are those case find Prowls and Bluestreaks legit? Is the poor print quality specific to just those in the case find, or all No Gray Border Prowls and Bluestreaks in general?

Just curious since I vaguely recall the case finds during that period to be quite unique. I get the impression that they were single packed instead of in assortments and most if not all of them were NGB boxes.
