It's not dick move in the least. If you really want those extra bits, just buy them off someone who doesn't want/need them.

It's just piddly bonus crap anyway, it's not like new limbs or upgrades.

 

It's crappy if you feel like the accessory should have been included with the original figure, and you have no desire to buy the new, unrelated figure.

I don't have a dog in this fight b/c I didn't like sunsurge's design, and I'm buying MMC's trailbreaker, but I can see how this practice rubs some fans the wrong way. If the manufacturer really needs to add bits and pieces to a figure after the fact, release an accessory kit. Don't make people buy a $100 figure they may or may not want, IMO.

 

Accessories should be
A) sold with the figure they're intended for
B) sold separately
Selling accessories for figure A with figure B is dumb. If you bought figure A why should you have to buy figure B to get accessories for figure A? And if you didn't buy figure A but bought figure B now you've just paid for accessories you can't use. And anyone who thinks those accessories aren't calculated into the price are mistaken.

Alright, trying to compare, here are some preference between BC and MMC trailbreaker

- I think prefer the silver painted shoulder guns on the BC to chrome on MMC, but cant be sure until final painted version of MMC is out.

- Also, the tires are nicer and cooler on the MMC. BC black paint is fantastic though, I really love the finish. Also, on BC, I prefer the front windshield contour (and black trim surroundings) and not showing as much inner parts as the MMC one

- Bot mode. I prefer the silver bits on the BC to the white thigh / forams on MMC. But otherwise, I think they are both desirable, not sure which I prefer yet.

 

You know I could agree with this to a point if it was say a part that was integral to the toy or character.

For example lets say they released a hypothetical Jazz figure that came with all his parts except for the toy missile launcher. Jazz never had it in the cartoon but the toy sure as hell did. If they then released said launcher with a different character later and that was the only way to get it I would be pissed about that.

But what were talking about here are all strictly afterthoughts of one or two scene accessories that are not integral to the toy or characters. Not having them should not diminish what is already a great figure on its own.

 

Quick comparison of Ocular Max and Bad Cube.

 

Just got Crash Hog from KFC. In all of the promo pics they had him with the green drum box thing he bangs on. Guess what? Crash Hog doesn't come with it, only Dump Yard does. I was on the fence with Dumpyard but I do want that piece so I'm now buying another Junkion to get it. No one forcing me to and it is a solid marketing strategy. FansToys does it with redone faces and body fillers. Maketoys did it with GunDog faces with their Grapple.

Now, shipping a toy riddled with QC problems or misrepresented colors and then offering a better version a month later is more of an issue with me. Looking at you candy colored Transistor.

 

IMHO MMC has the better chest, feet and vehicle mode but Badcude has the everything else. Better face, ams and everything from the waist down. BUT based on Sphinx vs Sunsurge MMC will have the far better transformation.

 

This is one of those times where I feel you just can't go wrong either way. They both look great and both company's have good to great QC. Badcube wins out on the extras where MMC seems a bit better on vehicle mode and not nearly as hard edged as the BC offering.

 

I was going to preorder this for sure, but now I will wait until I see reviews of the competing designs.

From those images, MMCs has the better chest/waistline, but Badcube's use of silver rather than plain white looks a lot better. Hopefully like Sphinx there will be some colour tweaks before the final version.

 

Wow, I am happy that they are including some cool silly little accessories. I like the BC design slightly better I think. The accessories won't be involved in making the decision for me.

 

I'll likely be going with the MMC OM PS version. I feel that their transformation will be less complex than Badcube's offering. It looks like I'll be missing out on the "A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court" knight accessories. I didn't see any mention of accessories for Sunsurge in BBTS' description.

Well, I was going to get this one and Hoist but BC wooed me with theirs.

 

I can't say on the Transformation without trying it out in person. I don't use instructions and don't frequently change their modes. My tastes can vary greatly on that subject.

I noticed quite a few positive elements for my own leanings on both. I am perplexed that BC didn't chrome the weapon/shield combo but did the thighs, forearms, shins, grill, etc.

I have made no decision yet, except I would like an amalgam of both.

 

Well we still don't know what extra goodies and accessories the MMC versions will include yet. You never know, they might just 1 up Badcube.

Well, shoot. After looking at The Byter's collage, I'm a bit torn now! I'm not sure which truck mode I like more, they're both pretty awesome. I like the finish and silver on BC's TB bot mode, but MMC's looks more show accurate, and that chest tapering of the truck hood is sweet. Hmmmm....

 

Yes! I would choose MMC in a second if that was included.

 

S**t! This has never happened to me before. I have never had to choose between two competing 3rd party figures. I prefer Ocular Max's body but hate the head. Love badcube's head sculpt though.

Ocular Max have nailed the body. Badcube the head. It's always been so clear to me with previous figures. S**t!
