Got My figure today... Tabbing him together is a exercise in patients... But I am more then Happy with this figure. Glad I chose it as My inferno.

Received mine today, absolutely gorgeous in both modes but with the typical problems... crotch won't tab, gun only barely pegs into one hand and not at all the other.

Now that pleasantries are out of the way, was no one else confounded by the transformation process? I absolutely will NOT be repeating it, just not fun at all and a clearance nightmare in general. I nearly gave up half-way through when I inadvertently popped off half the collar assembly and just could not get it to peg back in (it's a short bi-parted mushroom peg, for those interested, and only the hardest to fix part that popped off).

I appreciate the effort to engineer something that transforms, but I think a lot more care needs to be given either to the instructions or just the clearance between moving parts in general.

got mine out of the box and TF'd it. For me, the instructions were pretty good. There were some tight clearances, but everything went together smoothly, except the crotch tab. I think that tab is just too short so it's not even reaching the slot... or at least enough in it so it sticks.

Of course, the ease of transformation may be because I just TF'd FT-Willis which is a bit harder, although not as bad as some people made it out to be, at least for me. I will say TF'ing it via the included instructions was a lot easier than trying to watch the video. If folks are used to watching a vid (like I am) over instructions, that may be where the frustration is.

Luckily, I didn't have any issues with the gun. I am pegging it in, and letting the hands hold it. The peg by itself isn't terribly strong, but coupled with the hand holding it, it's solid. I can move the arm by moving the gun, so that's good enough for me!

He is a very handsome bot!

Just got mine yesterday, and I hate to say it, but I'm a little disappointed.
It didn't seem quite up to MMC's usual standard.

The crotch plate, as with many people.
VERY fiddly getting into vehicle mode; tabbing everything is a major chore.
QC seems to have been an issue: the paint isn't up to par on the alternate head(although the standard one is first-rate), the right leg thigh swivel ratchet is loose, the left arm seam splits when you swivel the bicep, and the left elbow's tension is loose.
It's not that there aren't good things about this figure, there are, but the surprise of the bad aspects takes a lot away from it for me. Especially since it was ALMOST there, had they tightened it up a bit I'd have love for this instead.

I don't have Sphinx YET(I'll bet getting that in a little while) so I don't have much familiarity with the Perfection line, but compared to MMC's ReFormatted line Backdraft seems like a step backwards. In fact, if I hadn't already ordered Sphinx when I received Backdraft and opened it up, I probably WOULDN'T have ordered it. Right now I feel like it's more of a placeholder until the official Inferno drops.
    Unfortunate.

Mine had no QC issues, even the spray paint on the alternative face was good. I did notice a little bit of stress marks on one of the panels that turns into the Red Hood in robot mode, but that might have just been because I was trying to transform it wrong. Overall I am very pleased and aesthetically it matches very well with the early generation Masterpiece toys before they went super cartoony. However, in spite of how much I like the vehicle mode, because it is so different from The Inferno I picture in my head I don't feel that this is necessarily think definitive Masterpiece version of the character like how Willis is. I could see myself getting the xtransbots version or even the official one because I have to admit the ladder hiding gimmick is brilliant.

The fact that it matches the original MP figures is why I like it so much. Not sure I like the super plain and cartoony look of some of the newer MPs

    Spot on about this!

That was one of the many things that puts TT's version over this one. With the other cars TT struck the perfect balance of them looking like their source material and their real life counterparts, same with Inferno, he looks like the source material but juuuuust okay to look like a real life fire truck, visible arms syndrome and all!

And they could do so with Inferno because unlike Tracks, Jazz or Bumblebee, most would be hard pressed to know exactly which firetruck he was was based on in real life, giving them leeway to go the visible arms route and look like the source material and passable as a real life car. With Ocular max, I feel they've gone 180 degrees of this new supposed cartoony direction which TT has gone that I frankly don't see nor think exists, the firetruck looks way too realistic, it doesn't resemble the source material, it doesn't look like Inferno to me.

Along with several other shortcomings of this figure, it makes it a placeholder at best for me until TT's gets here, a noble effort, though!

    Yeah!

They look pretty good, although they're just stickers (?). I expected water-slide decals (I shifted mostly to Gundam kits since about a couple of years ago) so I was a little confused. They peel off the paper and just stick to the bot. No water required. decals =/= stickers. The transparent bits of the sticker are very unnoticable. Too bad the 'F D' sticker is black, so you can hardly see it. Even on my G1 Inferno those are white. weird.

I don't have pics right now, but they're so easy to apply, try it out. Don't worry about messing up, since you get 2 sets

Did anyone dump Mt hellfire for this guy? If you did, I'd love to hear why...

Very clean, wish ironhide looked as good from the front as the official looks from the back. I like backdraft too and may have to get XTBs as well, Ive never triple dipped before.:banghead:

This guy impressed me so much I canceled my pre-order for the official Takara version.

In many ways that matter to me, this is the superior version. A hiding ladder, while neat, is not what I remember as a kid with the original G1 toy. Being able to stuff Spike and Daniel in the cab is a great bonus and really adds to the display value in alt mode. I wish all MP figures could pull this off. the G1's toy was awesome and had that diaclone driver space in the chest. Now I have an MP version that has a similar feature!

Mine has zero paint flaws or QC issues. I read a few bad experiences and wanted to share that there are indeed good figures from this production batch.

And because the MMC folks occasionally read these things, thanks for making such a great MP Inferno!! Good job MMC!!

And two right shoulder joints. Hope TheChosenPrime can help me out here. I'm not sure I can change the shoulder joint. I may need a whole new figure.
