Getting lds graded is kinda silly imo. The toy is the prize, not the box. Most come in plain white boxes anyways. And always liked to break out some of non chrome pieces and fiddle with them and display them. But, to each their own, im sure youll do what makes you happy in the end.
Keep it sealed. I've had three MIB ones over the years, but never a sealed one. Hell, I would trade you my MIB one for your sealed one.
Alrighty then. You're flat-out berating and attacking my character because I didn't agree with what I thought was a commonly-known fact about AFA. Classy. Not in this particular case. I remember reading it happened again recently, but I probably couldn't cite a source if I tried. Faulty memory is a bitch. Alright, fine: I'm sorry I kicked your puppy. I recall it costing more back in the late '00s. I'm probably wrong again. Time flies when you're having...wait... Calm down, Dwight. That doesn't quite apply after a certain point. If something is so rare that it only shows up, say, once a year, people will dogpile on it regardless of whether or not it's been opened at one time or another. I know, because I've been hunting down certain toys that aren't even on the market right now. As long as it's virtually fresh from the box and undamaged, a couple of strips of tape being cut will only deter the one or two guys with OCD who may not place the highest offer anyway. That's op's decision, but I personally don't think it's worth hunting and spending Benjamins on an identical figure just because there's a couple of people out there who care about a strip of tape. And like I said, opening it and confirming it's not faulty in some way might even increase the value if he documents it and takes the right precautionary steps to keep it mint. That way he has his cake and at least gets a taste of it.
IMO, keep it sealed. I've been looking for one for a while and have kept my eye on various sites in Japan and MISB ones rarely if ever come up. I think in the last 2 years I've seen maybe 1 MISB and about 5 MIB ones. While the choice is yours, just remember, once you open it, you can't go back, but you can always find another MIB.
Since you have other characters enclosed or graded, I would preserve it. Then buy loudpedal mp and open and enjoy that one.
After careful consideration of the arguments, I have changed my mind: keep it sealed. 1) You can't un-open a figure. If the OP opens it and regrets it, there's no going back. 2) opening it would decrease the number of sealed ones out there, making not only this one unavailable (as a sealed version) to those down the road who want a sealed one, but also raise the value of the rest that are still sealed, making it THAT much harder for someone to get a sealed one. 3) it DOES seem possible to get an already-open one (more likely than another sealed one). 4) the OP already has (and has enjoyed) multiple iterations of this mold - they don't need to open this one to experience Tracks. 5) I'm assuming that the OP specifically sought a sealed one. 6) black Tracks looks sweet as hell (I'M even considering hunting for one) and there are other options to get that figure in that color scheme 7) LAST BUT NOT LEAST: if the OP even opens it, the care they would take to leave it mint would mean zero transforming, no "play", and no sticker application, so there's really no point in opening it. In terms of future collectors getting this? Don't AFA grade it. It's such a turn off when an already expensive figure is made more expensive. If we want future generations to be able to enjoy (and afford) this hobby, why would we do things to add another hundred bucks onto an already hefty price tag?
I actually just recently purchased this on YJ. The translation was a bit confusing as it was listed as unopened in the title and also used, as is, no returns in the description. A bit of a gamble that paid off for my first YJ purchase.
Strong arguments, and why I would might consider adding a loose/MIB piece in the future. I have considered that if I do decide to open, I will upload an unboxing video. I have not seen one for black tracks.
keep it SEALED I'd say. One of those rare occasions in which a toy transcends way beyond being just a toy.
Also just in case you are curious, the inside of the box is no different than Tracks/Roadrage. Unlike other Lucky Draws, there is no prize paperwork. It's just Track's (number 44 instruction and label sheet) packet
Open. What is the point of having a box like that unless you are purely into collecting for the investment? You know you want to open him.
Thank you. I had read about the contents before, but it's great to have this attached to the thread. Question, the inner plastic inserts that hold the contents...are they taped? Meaning does tape need to be sliced to remove the toy/weapons?
I've owned two of these LD Black Tracks and two of the vintage Diaclone black Corvette too. Believe me there are enough of these sealed to not worry about opening it. I opened mine and the amount of happiness it brought me made it worth it, plus it did not depreciate at all as a result of my opening. There were 300 released as a prize with the sticker, and who knows how many more without the sticker out the back door. Open it, it's a spectacularly nice toy. All the best Maz
