There's always been beef with police. It just took society this long to really NOTICE and realize "hey, we really need to fix this issue". As for Barricade, he's been a cop car before the police-beef became such a huge topic.
The only ones who would make a big deal out of a Transformer being a police car, are those looking for the tiniest reason to complain. It's a movie, with pretend sentient alien robots, nothing more. Barricade is a Con masquerading in an alt form of a recognizable vehicle that represents those who protect others. The Autobots have Prowl who also takes the alt form of a police car (though he's not in Bayverse), and unlike his Con counterpart, does protect others.
I've actually always said that the cop car character being a Decepticon instead of an Autobot in TF '07 was a pretty smart, socially-aware decision. We know better than to think they're all just "the good guys" now and the movies wisely reflect that truth.
i am indeed a bit worried that transformers will once again be struck by nonsensical political correctness & fear barricade will go the way of the twins in tf3 what are the odds a) barricade came back & b) this nonsense going on in society? they better keep him also if barricade is a ksi bot ill be severely letdown (again)..it says he is 'back' so that leads us to believe it is indeed barricade from 1 & 3 & not some stinger/galvatron type...we will know as soon as he transforms...gonna be so pumped!...i hope it's done in the same fashion as ironhide's at the beginning of tf2..i cant remember a transformation getting louder applause than that one. who woulda thought barricade would be the last standing decepticon from the OT?..doesnt make sense but i love it!..not even lockdown could track him down
The only long odds there were on Barricade actually returning again. Personally, I think it's a pretty great way to keep the films socially relevant and that it can only HELP the movie. The people on the street know what's up.
Barricade isn't goin anywhere and won't be cute. The difference between him in is movie and the twins in DOTM is Barricade is a MAIN character where as the Twins were only even meant to be secondary characters in DOTM. Lot easier to cut secondary characters and work the script to accommodate than it is for a main character.
Pretty sure there was never an issue with either of Barricade's modes (bot or alt mode). It's not like people will confuse Barricade (in bot mode) as a caricature of a police officer (unless you count grunting and growling like an animal as being offensive to cops -- really hope TLK gives Barricade an actual personality this time around along with more dialogue). Can't really say the same with the Twins' questionable bot mode designs, dialogue, and mannerisms (as far as to what they were supposed to caricature... apples to oranges comparison there, IMHO). His alt mode, however; his bad cop shtick is part and parcel as to why he's so popular to begin with. A villain hiding in plain sight is good, but a villain masquerading as law enforcement (see T-1000 from Terminator 2) is just smart tactics to move around more easily and gain access to areas and intel that otherwise wouldn't have been possible (like the airport where Air Force One landed back in the very first movie). That and Mustangs are better than Camaros.
Yeah, I think Barricade will likely get more screen time and lines than in the previous films, but that doesn't mean he's a main character. I personally suspect that Barricade was the leader of the surviving Cons after DOTM. I suspect that he, the VW van, the Decepticon truck, and the Decepticon motorcyle are the Decepticon Pathetic Dirty Foursome.
Because he's the ONLY known Con to come Back besides Megs. He's going to be a main Con. And he's leading his own unit. That's Main Con material lol. He's back to be Bees nemesis.
KNOWN, is the keyword here. He was Bee's nemesis in the first movie and disappeared for great amounts of time and wasn't even part of the final battle. It's entirely possible he get's killed off after one battle.
Detroit is standing in for both London and Chicago, just because he was seen there doesn't guarantee he will have a large role. We don't know how big a role he has at this point.
Out of all the vehicles we have seen, who are the ones we've seen the most of? Bee and Barricade. I mean come on, even Crosshairs and Hound haven't been seen as much as Barricade and we got Drifts car reveal and still haven't see t in any filming "yet". But Bee and Barricade are all over the place lol. Shit, this might as well be TF6 (Bees movie) as it stands lol. Barricade is probably this movies "Soundwave". As in he will be the one pulling many of the strings of the Cons main plot much like Soundwave did in DOTM.
Barricade got a booboo lol!!! https://instagram.com/p/BIOFEs6BxJS/ Does his fender look jacked up there or is that normal?
