He was talking about the Galactic Council. That's who he made a deal with and thought was attacking the group on Necroworld, not the DJD. That's the whole big twist right on the first page of the preview, that Getaway had no idea about the DJD. The wiki, and everyone else, just assumed that it had to have been the DJD Getaway was talking about... and you're making the same mistake by assuming that Getaway had to have known the DJD were after them, even despite the guy who was once their leader not showing any sign of guessing that.

For the record, I don't agree with Getaway's actions, but if the narrative and the fandom can forgive Brainstorm and Whirl, and the narrative treats Megatron like a whipped puppy who clearly just needs a hug then I'm going to say "Getaway did nothing wrong".

Because clearly the standard for 'wrong' is so wildly out of whack that it's essentially non-existent. Perhaps amusingly enough, this reminds me of Chromia, and how heavy-handed the narrative was with trying to forgive her and make the fandom forgive her. Which still annoys me even now.

That reminds me, Brainstorm should have some sort of punishment, since he nearly re-wrote history because "Tru Wuv!" and poisoned most of the crew. I mean if he's gonna wander around the ship, give him lack a ankle bracelet that shocks him if he goes somewhere off-limits. But again, we're a bit late for that idea since everyone's easily forgiving him for what he's done.

Edit: Speaking of which, here was that panel that hinted at Getaway knowing what he was doing stranding them on the Necrobot's planet. But again, Lets have #55 decide if Getaway is gonna give us more info about his
    contacts with the GC.

Now why would Getaway wants to get rid of Rodimus, anyway? Aside from his comments of saying he is useless (albeit he is the one who saved all of MTOs by almost sacrificing himself)? Is he trying to take over The Lost Light? For what purpose?

Considering, like, nearly half the crew wanted Rodimus gone well before Getaway even came on board, I'm not sure it's entirely fair to pin the mutiny entirely on him. Afterall, literally the entire rest of the ship is shamelessly backing him up. Remember, he didn't let himself out.

With 200 voices all shouting mutiny in unison, at what point do we just have to admit it might actually be Rodimus' fault as a captain? Did Getaway manipulate them all, too?

Rodimus is a horrible, horrible captain. That's why.

So now we know that the GC was who Getaway contacted, how the heck did the DJD know that Megatron would end up on the Necroworld, let alone be waiting for him??

It can't be that simple. Rodimus is a horrible captain? Sometimes. Just like Kirk sometimes a horrible captain who puts his crew in trouble.

Heck, plenty of things wrong in season one was not due to his fault. The Engine malfunction, the spark eater incident, heck, he even saved all of MTOs.

People still follow him the second time around, too. Even Ratchet. Heck, Riptide still wanted to tag along. There was no vote to remove Rodimus from captaincy before Lost Light left cybertron with Megatron on-board. Everyone's still thinking Rodimus is sharing captaincy with Megs.

So what could be the real reason Getaway wants Rodimus gone?

    But it is.

No, all the time. Especially in season 2. Remember, Getaway wasn't onboard the LL until the end of season 1.

Also, Getaway isn't the only one in the mutiny. I'm pretty sure the other 200 members aren't as gullible and child-minded as Tailgate. They hate Rodimus as a captain, too. Hell, Getaway may not have even hated Rodimus that much, but everyone else may have, and thus voted to have him removed.

Has Rodimus even told everyone Overlord was his fault? If he has, that's pretty good reason for them to want to mutiny. If not, is that not just more evidence for how bad of a captain he is?

Yes there was, Rodimus was just given a fake list of who voted, but the actual vote still happened. Ratchet even admitted to being one who had voted for him to step down.

But what did he do to warrant such disdain from the crew? Because he's Rodimus? Because of a handy escape ship that happens to be in the shape of his face? Because we needed something to mimic the fan reactions to Prime's death in the '86 film? The Sparkeater, and Fort Max taking hostages was never his fault. Heck, you can say Overlord being taken on board in a cell by Prowl was not his fault, as he hired the Duobots to do it under Rodimus' nose.

Overlord? He's a gigantic child? The blatant disregard for anyone else's safety or wishes?

Or how about the fact that it's a quest for the Knights of Cybertron and they've literally accomplished nothing towards that goal?

Since basically the same reference seems to have happened here, I'll quote myself on Getaway's Plan: This isn't shooting baby Hitler, it's shooting Hitler and also shooting an unrelated baby twice.

I do have to agree that Rodimus is terrible based on the Overlord incident alone. Why the hell isn't Minimus in charge? He's actually gotten his head on straight after season 1 and kept it there.

And yet if you ask anyone, all they'll say is "that's the guy who killed Hitler and prevented WWII!" And that doesn't really work out, because the other baby isn't unrelated. Getaway needed Megatron to attack an Autobot for his plan to work. He needed to show everyone that Megatron was still evil. What's more evil than killing sweet little innocent Tailgate? That would be a totally unjustifiable act by Megs as Tailgate is no threat to anyone, hence Megatron wouldn't be able to claim self defense or anything.

Again, what Getaway did was wrong, but at least it stems from a frame of mind you can understand. Not relate to, not sympathize with, understand. As in "he did this because he hates Megatron and hates that Megatron hasn't been punished because Megatron is a horrible person." That's understanding. He didn't think "I'm gonna get Tailgate killed" he thought "I'm gonna get Megatron what he deserves, no matter what."

Because character developement in season 2 has been entirely spotty and inconsistent.

I think the fact that Getaway is the character with the most reasonable, understandable motivations speaks volumes for how mishandled and poorly developed everyone else has been. Whatever happened to Rodimus' resolved at the end of Remain in Light? Has that even been mentioned? Wasn't he supposed to grow from that experience?

No he didn't, because he just succeeded at the coup that he had been planning all along anyway.

Endangering and traumatizing Tailgate was totally redundant. He honestly just preferred proxy murder to not having proxy murder.

He's at Chromia levels of batshit here.

Getaway is a fun character and I hope he continues to not just place innocents in danger but to defile innocence itself.

While I'm not entirely dissagreeing with you, sometimes people literally just choose not to learn from their mistakes even after coming to a realization that its wrong. Rodimus is someone who is known for constantly fucking up and knowing it and doing nothing about it. I get ehat you mean, he needed to learn to get over that, that wasn't the case though. I think if Roberts really wanted it to happen it would have in some form.

Now where do you get the impression that people don't understand why Getaway did what he did?

Oh, no, I'm not asking that because I want an answer to that, it's more because I don't like that you went out of your way to talk down someone with that.

He got sidelined by both OPTIMUS PRIME and MEGATRON, so his resolve may have been somewhat diminished. But he still acts toward the goal of finding The Knights here and there: recording Thunderclash's map ON HIS DESK so that it'd be a permanent fixture, letting his crew saving Thunderclash and his crew, helping some organics here and there, saving the timeline. Heck, relinquishing tactical management in battle to Megatron is a sign of growing up. Previously he would just scream in his face. He even outright refuse to participate in Cybertron's integration of colonies to focus on finding the knights.

Rodimus is not a truly bad captain. I stand by that opinion.

So Getaway's intent to remove him from captaincy is still suspicious. Who would the crew trust anyway? Minimus? Minimus outright says that he doesn't have the drive to lead like Rodimus. He's just a hand, not a brain. Brainstorm? Please. Cyclonus? Whirl? Smokescreen? Hotspot? Well, I can see Hotspot taking the lead, but he's a non-character so far.

I don't think Rodimus is a terrible Captain. Some really poor choices and some very unusual reactions compared to other more standard examples of leadership. It has been pointed out that they have done a lot of good. They've saved a lot of lives despite the unorthodox methods.

From the Getaway perspective, technically Rodimus has saved him twice already. I can see the defence of Getaway and I think he is a brilliant character (I've been a fan ever since getting his original G1 toy) but I can see why it has rubbed people up the wrong way. Part of me suspects its the fact that I'm not sure what right Getaway has to judge Megatron (and the loyal LLers). I simply don't buy that a character like Getaway wouldn't understand the possible repercussions of his former crewmates being disposed of by either the GC or the DJD. He must have seen them as collateral damage. I totally see the overall picture involving Megatron but if we concentrate solely on Season 2 (which I think has been great) Megatrons journey has been a more sympathetic one in isolation and Getaway has been underlined as a creepy, unethical, underhanded, manipulative character. We have to give some credit here to Roberts, there has to be a little validation of Megatron otherwise there is no point having Megs as an Autobot. Can he ever realistically atone for what he's done? Probably not. Is it interesting to watch him try? I think so. I am hoping that we will see some of the other LL bots reactions and reasons for abandoning the crew - especially Ace Thunderclash and Perceptor - things just don't tie up in my head.

Talking of comparing Brainstorm, and him going back in time - it might seem like a pretty weak argument but since it seems it was always pre-ordained and we don't know (other than a very brief look) at how the universe would have played out if he hadn't time traveled, isn't it all a bit moot?

I agree. I never found Rodimus to be a "bad" captain. Unexperienced, yes. Rodimus is headstrong, young (spiritually), hot headed and doesn't have a lot of patience. He's the type of kid that runs around with a sling shot hitting things, and when he accidentally slaps someone in the ass with a rock, he feels like utter shit and puts the slingshot down never to touch it again. Rodimus needs someone to keep his impulses in check, but when he screws up, he knows he screws up, he admits it (I think burning a number into your hand as a constant reminder you screwed up pretty significant) and tries to change it.

Here's the thing I always found irritating about the character's reactions to Rodimus as captain. Rodimus didn't go through a sudden personality change when he decided to lead the Lost Light. He wanted to go find the lost Knights, and people agreed to go with him. No one forced any of them. They knew Rodimus' personality and behavior long, long before this. They wanted off Cybertron because the "NAILS" came back and were angry at them, so they threw in their lot with him, and now they're complaining he's not Optimus Prime. That irks me. That really irks me. Yes, he took risks with Rung with the Sparkeater, but he took that risk on himself as well, literally man-handling ('bot-handling?) the Sparkeater into the machinery to get rid of it. He didn't pull a Starscream and run and hide.

On a COMPLETELY different note....is anyone else feeling extremely pissed at Optimus for basically setting Cybertron back 4 million years into the past by forcing Megatron to stand before everyone and admit he was wrong to stand up for himself?

No, because no one's faulting him for that part. The issue is that he didn't call "Mission Accomplished" when he killed the Senate and then kept going.
