What's with the weird chest shape? Seems like an odd place to go so drastically off-model.

I agree, except that I couldn't afford to keep going if it went on indefinitely.

If they would have done Shockwave, Sideswipe or AOE 60's Bee (not DOTM I know, but basically a repaint/minor retool turning him into my favorite Bee version) I would have found the money somehow though.

(That reminds me, I still need to send you Shockwave pictures, I haven't forgotten- just buried in grad school stuff)

Funny, after looking at other 3A original designs and knowing they planed to make this very 3A I was actually expecting bigger feet than he ended up with. They stayed truer to the G1 designs than I expected.

Agreed that the proportions are a bit more fast and loose than I'd personally like as well. I dunno. Let's see if 3A makes Megatron or Starscream. Wheeljack would be a nice surprise but I'm not counting on it.

I wanted at least Barricade. And Shockwave. And Sentinel Prime. And Sideswipe. And Ironhide. And Que/Wheeljack. And Dino. :D

Oh sweet! Do send away! I managed to unpack my custom Shockwave and Megatron and have them displayed together.

Those feet are like comically big... as bad as XTB's Inferno prototype...

Optimus Prime meets Sideshow Bob lol...

I like it well enough. It's fairly close to Ashley Wood's older IDW covers. I doubt I will be able to justify the price of this however.

What price range is this supposed to be? As others have said, I'm all for options and varying degrees of stylization, but this goes too far for me in several places. I do like the headsculpt though.

    That's a very ... brave ... aesthetic.

I own a few ThreeA /TreeZero pieces and they always seem to do some pretty fantastic work. From what I'm seeing here there is no doubt in my mind that, on a technical level, this will be quite an amazing piece.

Aesthetically, to say I do not care for it would be to put it lightly. This is defiantly not for me. I'm sure that there are those out there that will love this line and will snatch these up in a heartbeat so I do not worry about the success of this line one bit.

To me, I find this style to be very off-putting and just horrid to look at in the context of transformers or any mecha for that matter. It is purely the skewed proportions. On the other hand, I would have been all in if it were a bit more of a traditional proportions. Just taking this design and balancing the proportions would work. The details are there. The proportions are too far off for my tastes.

    Nuf said on my rant.

    More details on the release:

    Hasbro x ThreeA
    TRANSFORMERS | GENERATION ONE
    PREMIUM SCALE COLLECTIBLE SERIES

July 20th, 2016 - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL, SAN DIEGO, CA

Hasbro and 3A proudly present; TRANSFORMERS GENERATION ONE (TFG1)! Ashley Wood and the development team at ThreeA are redesigning and building licensed stylized premium collectibles from Hasbro’s classic toy lines.

For TFG1, Ashley Wood and the development team at ThreeA have gone back to the original 1980s animation models and toy lines for inspiration. Maintaining the delicate balance between these characters’ distinct appearances while restyling their designs with ThreeA’s fresh approach has been both a challenge and a delight.

The first release in the epic collaboration between Hasbro and ThreeA features the iconic Leader of the Autobots, OPTIMUS PRIME! Optimus Prime stands approximately 16” (40.64cm) tall and bears a newly designed brawler-esque physique. Optimus Prime also features an array of diecast parts, heavily weathered paint detailing, and full range of articulation - including opening Matrix Chamber with the Matrix of Leadership. G1 Optimus Prime comes complete with Energon Axe, and his iconic Blaster.

TFG1 Optimus Prime will come in three editions – OPTIMUS PRIME, ULTRA MAGNUS EDITION, and the BAMBALAND.COM EXCLUSIVE NEMESIS PRIME EDITION.

Looks great to me. Yeah, there's some unorthodox stylized elements, like the skewed chestplate, but if you look and compare it to Prime 1's G1 Optimus statue, this 3A rendition is actually less stylized and more faithful to G1.

I think the real selling point is the weathered paint chipped look. They did a great job with that. I've got the ThreeZero Titanfall Mechs and the weathering is always spot on.

Did you guys see this. If they start making GIJOES to go in scale with these new transformers then my interest in this will be a lot higher.

Optimus is stomping the yard and doing his best flash dance impression. :D

I'm actually more interested in the G.I. Joes that are teased in the picture there. Want more information about those please!

I've been a fan of his style for a long time..so this seems normal to me. I already have MP-10 & MPP10..so im good on normal looking primes. This will be a fun addition.

    3 versions?...impressive...

I still want a heads up for characters next in line...(I guess Bee or Megatron will be next)..but honestly, I'm dying to see their take on an 'updated G1' version for Starscream!
