Not really feeling this one. I was honestly hoping it would've been something else. But I'll probably try and get it anyway. Still one of the more underwhelming things they've done even if the deco will probably be quite nice.
Also never ceases to amaze me how much people hate the Universe mold. One of the best out of that line and better than most 2012 onwards molds.

I am thrilled with this....I am not fond of the universe mold and thought the Prowl/Smokescreen versions of combiner wars were really great, so I look forward to it. If only wheeljack had some paint he would have been good too, had to go with Unite Warriors version.

So, I'm just curious. How do we know this is the mystery figure for 4.0? What do if this is something else, like a last min club exclusive like Skywarp? I ask because there is the upcoming TF/Joe elxclueive that features the Megs and MP ratbat figure nobody knew about and then later was revealed we were getting Black Cat and Toaster as well. Why can't this be a special 'Swan Song' figure?

Well, if you listen to most of the comments on this site, because funpub is run by a group of lazy shlobs who view us and transformers fans in generally as a bunch of whiny babies who've been genetically modified to have the most annoying screams in the world.

Yeah I'd totally buy him off you for whatever is fair. I just love the CW Prowl mold want a uniform look for the Datsun trio.

Damn, I'd prefer a G1 colored CW Bluestreak, but this will do. If anyone wants to sell theirs, I'm interested.

    (takes long, deep, sad sigh)

    (Alert - long post incoming.)

    Damn it.

As a Diaclone/Microchange fan, I'm generally happy the Club is at least doing something with Diaclone again, especially a deco that is generally one of the most well-liked out there of the Diaclone cars. For those that prefer the CW mold and/or wanted a "Streak" of some sort to round out the Fairladys in CW form, I'm happy for those that are interested in this.

I like the CW molds and like the idea of using them for remolds of random things, but the two waves of Autobot car remolds never worked for me; they always felt (to me) like generic robots wearing G1 Autobot costumes.

I've really wanted Diaclone/Microchange redecos from the Club for years but always wanted them from the earlier Classics/Universe/Generations molds. Whether you like all of them or not, to me they felt geared toward those respective characters. With the Club ending and Hasbro or Takara not really touching these decos, my hope that we'd see one of these in official form was severely dwindling. It's just toys, nothing to get legit agitated about and all that, but it's still a little depressing for me that this finally exists using the CW mold instead.

Looks pretty cool. Although I wish he didn't have the police sirens.

I guess it's kind neat, but I have to admit I was hoping for something cooler.

You know, they've done this deco now on MP, Kre-o, Beast Hunters, Spy Changers, and Binaltech. They have yet to do it on any line I actually collect. Hell, they didn't even bother to reissue it during the Encore phase. Every Diaclone redeco we have gotten so far is one I didn't expect, and have welcomed since we don't know when they'll do more, if at all. Unless it's from a line I don't collect, then I get indignant. Or in this case a version of a mold that I think is ill-suited for my collection. Is that so wrong?

They've done "blue" on some of those lines, but I quibble at saying most of those are "this deco." The silver hood, for example, is entirely absent on Binaltech.

I'm curious as to what you do collect.
Though I do agree it's odd that they didn't do it during Encore nor did they do it during the 2000s period when the Fairlady's all got reissued.

I don't know about you, but I sure don't need a Bluestreak with a lightbar. And definitely not for a premium price.

There is a reason TakaraTomy has stayed away from these. They're thoughtless crap.

They've painted the lightbar to not really evoke one the best they could so I don't see how it's thoughtless. I mean this is a Diaclone homage so they were going to do it one way or another.

I like it a lot. I enjoy both the CW Prowl mold and the Blue Bluestreak, and (as the post quoted below mentions) I do need a CW Streak of some sort. So I'm happy about this.

    However...

... I completely get this. And I agree. I still think it's so weird that Funpub never did an exclusively Diaclone-based box set for Botcon. It seems like such a missed opportunity. In the Club roundtable a few years back they mentioned they stayed away from the idea because they didn't think it had enough mass appeal. but I'd think (especially if treated as a big cohesive set) it'd have way more appeal than hodgepodge stuff like "Cybertron's Most Wanted" and "Machine Wars with Beast Machines Mixed In."

Sadly, I think that with the Club gone and Takara focusing their Diaclone energies on the MP line, the chances of many more Diaclone Classics figures is low. At least the MP line is kinda scratching that itch, though (at least for me).

Fair enough, but it took a simple hood swap to fix the Binaltech one. And yeah, the BH one had a more white hood, but you could easily tell what it was supposed to be. Come to think of it, TFP/BH also got Exhaust essentially in the Legion class.

CHUG, WFC/FOC, G1 Robot Heroes, G1 Tiny Titans, G1 Legion/Legends (the scout sized Legends are in CHUG proper) and up until recently G1. I talk myself out of MP damn near every week, as my wife got me an MP Prowl for Christmas one year and with blue Bluestreak being a thing in MP, AND all the other Diaclones done, it is very tempting.

Thoughtless crap? How many Diaclones were done in the MP line? 8 that I can think of off the top of my head. Takara isn't steering clear of them at all. Maybe in their CHUG lines, but that's about it.

The other thing that gets me is how many CHUG Diaclones have we really gotten?

At retail on purpose. Crosscut, and arguably Classics Cliffjumper.

At retail with a touch of part swapping: Tigertrack and Spin-out (red Sunstreaker), and that's about it.

Limited release: Botcon SG Tracks, Burn Out, Lift Ticket, ehobby Magnificus. Almost could have gotten police Sunstreaker had the voting gone better.

So 8 vs 8, and one of these has a much wider body of releases to pull from. To me that's inexcusable.

EDIT: D'oh! Can't believe I forgot Zaptrap, make that 9, and frustration that Salvo wasn't done with him.

Do I wish they could have gotten rid of the lightbar? Sure.

Am I going to use it as yet another excuse to dogpile on everything Fun Pub does? Of course not! It's REALLY not worth it. This is petty.

Aren't the couple of Diaclone homages they did do still lingering at the club store?

We'll never know if you're right about this concept doing better if they did it more cohesively, but I have serious doubts it would be that popular, myself.

(And, yes, they had OTHER sets that failed, as well. But, IMHO, I don't think a Diaclone-themed set would have done better.)

This makes me wish the TFCC weren't ending, I'd have loved the possibility of CW Sideswipe, Jazz and other G1 bots from them.
Hope Hasbro or Takara manage to release them somehow in future, I like the CW/UW play pattern a lot, and I'd rather them be CW than TR, keep my G1 season one heads where they are!
(I love TR so far tho, between Hasbro and Takara I'm building a little army of Crashbashes!)
