I like both Hasbro and Takara heads on WW, and he's a must have since I had him as a kid (shame his shoulder missile pods aren't hidden on the new one, mind) I'm going Takara tho, because Bananacon is just too cute not to! And I'm hoping to get his bro Apeface at RORC next weekend.
So has there been any indication that his Wolf head is as static as it looks? That would be sad seeing how Skullcruncher's head is one of the best parts to him.
Well... say you grab the Hasbro deluxe for 12.99 or more, and you decide you don't like the the head... an upgrade kit will run you $30?
Unless Hasbro eventually releases the Legends heads as individual Titan Masters for like $5, which could happen.
Lets see... "LG09" Brainstorm is the first to be upgraded. His second comic appearance says that he worked hard to achieve this. My only question is if, or when, they will reissue him with the "Head Master" style packaging. "LG21" Hardhead is obviously the second to be upgraded. His noticeable upgrade is his drone. I cannot wait to translate both his comic and bio. "LG22" Skull is the first for the Destron side. I am curious to find out if his dragon/drone means these Headmasters were split into two sub-factions/teams. Also, I hope his feet are not that small. "LG30" Weirdwolf looks better than I have anticipated. Same curiosity as "LG22", but I also may have to rethink who will become my favorite piece by the end of the line. "LG31" Fortress Maximus is one I will be pondering when the time comes. Beyond that... We have Chromedome, Highbrow, and Wipe coming around 2017. But I have to say that currently, this guy might look the best MISB. And I also think he might also look great on one's shelf.
The head at least rotates: http://static.seibertron.com/images/toys/uploads/1460217472-img-20160409-114247.jpg
It's possible, but it most likely wouldn't be a mass retail release, most likely something similar to May mayhem or an exclusive of some kind.
I thought that we could view first Legends Mindwipe pics around August /September and first preorders at BBTS and other similar shops around October/November,in your opinion I was too optimistic?
Looks great, but that little Apeface is such an oddity. All the other Titanmaster vehicles are generic enough that they can work in any color scheme, but this one is so blatantly G1 Apeface wearing Weirdwolf's colors. I don't dislike it, it's just peculiar.
Boxy heads are the best headmasters. All the curvy/almonds/trapezoid heads end up looking odd in head mode. Blurr, Scourge, Brawn, Clobber.
Even though he's not much different than Hasbro's Weirdwolf, I'm still getting it because I'm loving the Headmasters-accurate heads. Not saying the Hasbro heads were bad, I just like the Headmaster designs a lot more.
This is an easy Hasbro pick for me as Hasbro's colors are surprisingly good, one might say Takara-esque. (Though this is prolly due to what looks like a new way to add color through two-piece construction this relying less on paint apps.) And since I'm not wedded to any face design it's more about how the overall figure turns out. Both are excellent here so it's down to price.
I'm not a fan of the yellow Apeface. It doesn't reference anything and its not as if it has to share the same colors as Weirdwolf.
I love the Headmasters cartoon accurate heads too. Unfortunately, I just can't fit most of the Takara releases in my budget. I wish I could. I do however have the Takara Chromedome on pre-order. For Weirdwolf, I'm just going to have to settle for a more G1 toy influenced head. And I'm fine with that.
It was pointed out in another thread, but it's very possible the recolour references B.O.T. B.O.T. (episode) - Transformers Wiki Not beyond belief - Takara have made far more obscure references than that in the past.
God could you imagine if Hasbro had done something like this with recoloring apeface to match the deluxe it's being paired with? Glad the U.S is getting them separate.
