The Structure of the Factions - Autobots:

Before the Great War, the Autobot government was ruled by a largely corrupt Senate and lead by the Prime of that generation, who would rule until death or passing of the Matrix to the next Prime. Sentinel Prime was the 11th Prime since the original 13 helped start Cybertron and began to establish the colony worlds. The colony worlds were mostly seperate from Cybertron during this time, only involved in trade.

The corruption and manipulations of the senate were slowly choking Cybertron, creating an upper class and lower class with almost no hope of advancement. From the time when a bot was born, the Academy they went to was chosen for them, as was their job in society when they graduated. Individuals had control over their personal time and hobbies/interests, but not careers nor where their lives went. For some, they loved their job, for others, they longed for something else.

When the Cybertronian Civil War began, the Senate was destroyed almost immediately and the Autobot government quickly began to fall apart. The death of Sentinel Prime was the final blow to the old Autobot ways, the failed democracy, the broken system.

From its ashes rose a new kind of Autobot. The Autobots who believed in freedom and peace, who may have agreed with what the Decepticons said at the start of the war, but disagreed with their actions of revolution. But now, they weren't fighting to defend broken ideals, they were fighting to defend themselves and their once-trampled and now-free beliefs. Even if they were the ones to stand up to a broken system, the Decepticons were often still vicious criminals and a threat not just to Cybertron but the whole galaxy, and the Autobots couldn't let them win.

Dai Atlas and Metalhawk, the last two Knights of Cybertron, were called upon to lead these new Autobots in this war, Dai Atlas naturally filling into this leadership position. When Orion Pax became Optimus Prime, he didn't become leader by birthright, as that wasn't who the Autobots were anymore. Instead he became an elite warrior, proving himself and gaining respect by earning it, not because he deserved it just by being a Prime. The youngest Prime in generations, he also lacked the experience needed of a leader in war time.

When the great planetary shield was constructed, and the Decepticons were mostly forced away from Cybertron (and subsequently the colony worlds), the Autobots declared an end to the war, and rebuilding of government began.

A command structure born out of war, now transitioning into peace, the Autobots as whole, and Cybertron specifically are lead by a Supreme Commander, who is Dai Atlas at this time. Each colony world is lead by a Planetary Commander.

Lower level district leaders and courts are coming together, but no planetary Senate is being re-established. To reduce and eliminate as much potential corruption as possible, lower-level district leaders and even the Supreme Commander himself are held to elections and term limits.

Dai Atlas established the following military structure:

    Supreme Commander - Dai Atlas
    Reconstruction Supervisor - Metalhawk

    Commanders:
Thunderclash (Elite Guard - Gold Team)
Impactor (Elite Guard - Silver Team)
    Countdown (Liberation Force)
    Devcon (Autobot Special Operations)

    Along with following teams/organizations:

The Elite Guard: Made up of two teams that work seperately and in-tandem, they are the public face of the Autobot military, they are the dream of any Autobot hoping to join the military. They get all of the fame and publicity. Thunderclash's team in particular gets limelight, while Impactor mostly likes to keep out of it, still adjusting to this life after being leader of the Wreckers during the war. Made up of only 12 team member positions, it is truly the elite who make this team.

Autobot Special Operations: Inspired by the Wreckers, Dai Atlas recognized the need for secret operatives and covert teams that could deal with Decepticon military and criminal threats without concerning the public. Devcon, the most decorated spy during the war, was the easy choice to put in charge of the 30+ Special Operation members.

Autobot Police Force: Decepticons aren't just military, but simple criminals as well. The Autobot Police Force helps give the public peace of mind knowing that criminals are being caught the right way and by the law. An Officer in the Command Structure, the Chief of Police is Prowl.

Liberation Force: While most of the colony worlds can defend themselves from the Decepticons with support from Cybertron, the Elite Guard, and Special Operations, countless inhabited worlds are now at threat of the war-mongering conquerors of the Decepticons now that they've been forcibly removed from Cybertron. Liberation Force was established to travel to worlds where the Decepticons are trying to or already have established a foothold and remove them. Lead by the most popular soldier from the war, Dai Atlas promoted Countdown to Commander and let him put a team together.

Earth Defense Force: The officer Ultra Magnus was placed in charge of the Earth Defense Force, as Dai Atlas knew from his days as a Knight that Earth, a world largely uncared about by the Cybertronian race, could prove a target by the Decepticons. Given unlimited choice for his team, Ultra Magnus put together an unorthdox team of choices.

With elections coming in the next year, Dai Atlas asked Optimus Prime, an obvious choice for reelection among Autobot traditionalists who belived that the Prime should leave, to join Ultra Magnus and his team on his mission to Earth. Optimus, having lost his confidence in protecting from a dark prophecy revealed recently, agreed, not even realizing Dai Atlas' political motivations.

The first elections for Supreme Commander are coming between Dai Atlas and Metalhawk, and it is already heated publicly between them, both trying to make their positions for the future known.

    Basic Command Structure system:

Supreme Commander: Only 1 at any given time.

Commanders: Only 4 at any given time. Always in charge of some major force or team. Can only be promoted to this rank by Supreme Commander in the event of death, removal or retirement.

Officers: Any Autobots with enough seniority/experience. Rank granted by Commanders and in rare instances by Supreme Commander. Years of Service and Team Leader status are considered secondary ranks to Officers when no Commanders are present.

Standard: The bulk of the military.

Rookies: Inexperienced members of the military structure. Must be on a team or partnered with an Officer. Two officers or one Commander approve a rookie's transition to Standard.

    Any questions/comments are appreciated.

The Decepticons' structure will be talked about soon.
