Got this guy today and didn't see another thread so I decided to make one!

The shuttle mode has a nice look to it. There is a compartment underneath the shuttle which can hold the gun. The gun also has some landing gear molded onto it.





Transformation is pretty simple and should be easy to figure out if you own any other CW deluxes. I especially like how Blast Off transforms with the combiner peg in the back rather than the front. The cockpit transforms by compressing into the chest; sadly this causes Blast Off's chest to stick out really far from his body. This is probably the biggest problem with this toy in my opinion. Articulation is good, pretty much what you would expect from a CW deluxe with the addition of ankle tilts.




Also, Blast Off's fins can be removed from the bottom of his legs and placed on his back. They have standard pegs, so they can be put anywhere else if you want.

Overall, nice figure. If you like Bruticus and don't yet have a CW one, I would definitely recommend getting the UW set with this figure. If you already have a CW Bruticus and still want Blast Off, I would recommend waiting to see if Hasbro brings this one over.

I still like the Combiner Wars Blast Off more but if Hasbro brought this over I'd consider getting it but if they don't hey no loss.

 

Looks awesome to me and its way better then a lazy SlingShot repaint and I hope Hasbro brings it over like they did with Groove,they would fools no too,look how fast Groove went.

I would probably reverse the arms and make the CW peg area his chest like some others have suggested. Other that that,awesome

It does look good like this, but as Megatron31 said the hands are gonna be backwards. You can swap the arms if you want but then he can't transform properly anymore.

 

What keeps him from transforming properly that way? Isn't that how Strafe is going to work?

 

Careful what you wish for. I wanted a shuttle so bad and then this happened. I didn't like groove at all either so I should have guessed. But if the just fixed the colors and had it backwards like that I could see liking this. I just wanted this do bad, it's like the curse of the monkey paw.

 

The arms have tabs for shuttle mode/leg mode. If you swap both arms, the tabs won't fit, but blast off still looks relatively the same if you don't mind having unsecured arms in alt mode. I'm guessing strafe will have remolded tabs/slots to accommodate the opposite side transformation.

 

Too bad about the protruding chest, but he still looks great in my opinion.

 

Oh man. I can't wait for mine to drop in my PoL. THIS is a proper Blast Off, not that POS jet. I don't need a stinking low altitude POS jet for my Combaticons!

 

Mine seems to have an issue with the forearm half holding together not very tightly in arm mode, anyone else have this?

 

I really wish the arms of the other limb bots were able to bend as completely at the elbow as this guy can. It would have greatly improved all of the arm modes of most every figure.

 

I could see owning this if Hasbro came out with it having a g1 color scheme and I would always put him backwards.

 

Does Blast Off have mushroom pegs for his shoulder swivels? I think if you switch out the arms by the mushroom pegged biceps and not the balljointed shoulders, you'll be able to have correctly oriented hands. Dunno about the transformation though.

A lot of Japanese collectors were reporting this same issue on Twitter. Seems to be very common.

 

The giant chest, goofy feet and absolute dog's dinner of an alt mode kill this fig for me. It just looks really.. bad.

This looks great aside from the feet and swapped hands.

What would this alt transformation look like with the shuttle nose uncompressed for a bit of distinctive kibble?

 

I don't see the problem here. It looks like a space shuttle, so in my book that makes it a proper space shuttle Blast Off. If we're looking for any kind of realism I think we can look elsewhere as NO ONE in Combiner Wars has any kind of realistic alt mode.
