It wasn't drawn well. I hate to be a hater, but this wasn't at a professional level of illustration, regardless of the retro style it was going for. A lot of those retro illustrators had real chops with essential drafting.

 

And, you're wrong.

Scioli is a professional illustrator, illustrating professionally. He's done a bunch of comics prior to this and has a large following. His and Casey's G0dland was a critical success and one of my favorite American comics of the past decade.

There are a ton of non-traditonal approaches and styles to comic illustration that are hard for the people used to only one thing to understand or appreciate, but that expand and enrich the artform as a whole. I can't imagine what you would think about great, widely-respected but very non-traditional artists like Sala or Ware. And I will take Scioli's work over that of any of the other people doing TF work for IDW, most of whom are mediocre at best and without much imagination.

You couldn't enjoy this; that's too bad. Not everything is for everyone. But it's kind of like those color-blindness tests with the dots. Just because your eyes aren't able to see the pattern in the dots doesn't mean it isn't there. It just means you're unlucky and are missing out. You and the entire country of Hungary, apparently. You all have my sympathy.

 

If I sleep with Chris Ryall, do we get more of this? Because I'm willing to take one for the team here. Not just for Hungary, but the entire globe.
