This sucks. This on top of a friend of mine losing his father in the same week (just before Father's Day, no less). My sincere and deepest condolences to his family and friends. I never met Shaun, but I have enjoyed reading his posts on these boards in the last year or so since I joined. I would have loved to meet him and should have tried to at last year's Botcon. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend this year's convention, but like many others here, I would also like to be kept up-to-date on the events being done for both TFMaster and Shaun_C.
I'm mostly a lurker here, but every once in awile I'll see a topic that I must comment on. That's not to say that TFW2005 isn't on my list of go-to stops everyday. In fact it's my first stop, my favorite forum on the net read. That being said, when I loaded up the front page and saw Shaun C had passed it felt like a punch in the chest. You see, I frequent many forums, lurking and commenting when the mood strikes, and one of the reasons TFW2005 was my favorite forum was because of Shaun and the general feeling of welcomeness and comaraderie he and his fellow posters fostered here. Shaun seemed like the nicest dude around, and that was only what I could gather from his forum posts I'm sure he was even cooler in person. When I thought of hitting GD on these forums the name it conjured in my head was Shaun_C and I'm not blowing smoke. I'm not so much writing this for anyone else to read as I am for Shaun. Hopefully somewhere he can see this, and all the other comments folks here have left, and smile. I'm sure eternity in heaven is more important than the thoughts of some random schlub who likes Transformers, but I just had to say Shaun you will be missed by this random schlub. Thanks for being such a cool guy.
An updated obituary was printed in today's paper and online: http://www.passagesmb.com/obituary_details.cfm?ObitID=121268
www.tfw2005.com Frontpaged an update from both the Transformers Club and the Hasbro Transformers Team.
maybe we should get a petition together, or some form letter, and try and get Bay & Spielberg to put Shaun's name, and the other person we lost, at the end of the movie credits... to show how much they mean to everyone that knew them.... just a thought.
Very, very doubtful that will happen. Not trying to be a downer, but we have to remain realistic in regards to remembering our friends. Your best bet is something from TFCC during their dinner ceremony, which in itself would be a tremendous honor.
Yeah, it's too bad but realistically the movie guys probably wouldn't care enough to do that. Sad but true.
I can't say I ever talked to the guy, but from reading as many pages as I have it definately makes me feel like I missed out. I do know that i've seen his name in many threads and i'm sure we will be missing alot from his passing.
To all who have passed on Man - I couldn't believe it either, until I too, saw the obit. I'd like to extend my condolences to the families of Shaun C and to all the families of the boardmembers who've passed on to the next realm. This is a sad thing, but hope that those who are no longer with us on this plane, are resting in peace.
Ditto. I do hope his family has seen or has been made aware of this thread. 48 pages and growing still, it’s clear that Shaun touched the hearts of so many individuals. Rest in peace fellow Transfan Till all are one… Transformed
My heaert goes out to everyone, family and the board memebers. I don't post much here and mostly look for information and tid bits, but none the less a trans fan has passed, and that is enough even though never talking to the guy, to feel heart broken. Not lost or forget, but remembered.
I got to meet Shaun at BotCon 2005. A nice and friendly guy. My prayers go out to his family and friends. It amazing how many lives he touched if only briefly by being a part of this community.
he has had known medical issues.. but to steal a quote from the movie Dragon: I'd prefer to talk about how he lived
