"Because Link may be an androgynous male, but definitely male" is the stupidest reasoning ever? Has anyone who is complaining about this actually played Skyward Sword, where it makes it pretty clear why Zelda, Link, and Ganon will always be like they are? It's like demanding that the next Mushroom Kingdom game stars the Super Maria Sisters, or that Samus be made a man (although I realize that some people tried to edit the wiki for Samus to make her transgender, but let's not go there).

I agree he's not one, but he definitely panders to them, since so many people from NeoGAF make up his supporters.

Anyhow, let's not derail the thread further, and return to the hotmess (or is it?) of Mighty Number 9.

I hate to shift focus again (I promise this is the last time), but unlike the examples you gave, The Legend of Zelda is multiple timelines. Meaning multiple versions of Link, Zelda, Ganon, etc. Yes, their roles will always be the same, but that doesn't mean they themselves cannot be different, be it their personalities, genders, or whatever else.

Other reasons they gave for why Link isn't a girl was because it "upset the balance of the tri-force" and an example like "well if Zelda was playable, then what would Link do?" Whether you support the notion of Link being a female in a game or not, these excuses are terrible and rank up with Ubisoft saying programming female assassins is too difficult.

ANYWAY back to Trainwreck No. 9.

There's reports coming out that the wiiU version of MN9 is hardlocking systems, has ridiculous load times, and to top it off, runs like complete ass. Can anyone here confirm?

I'd rather it never change then become the mess that GAF has devolved to. ;)

Anyhow, I'd give it a 70-80% chance of being crap.

I've heard that PC versions of MN9 show up as malware.

Inafune or not, I'm not risking the safety of my computer or my consoles.

Me too. 7 is closer to 10 then 5 or 4 so that automatically makes it bad or mediocre?

    1-4=unplayable garbage
    5-6=nothing to write home about
    7-8=good
    9-10=must have!

Out of curiosity where did you hear this and were there multiple verified instances of this. I'm genuinely curious since i redeemed my steam codes and I'm gonna hold off downloading this when it becomes available untill this is clarified.

I know some things can trigger false positives and since the game has an online component I'm wondering if that's the case.

Got my steam backer keys and they gave me 2 retro costume dlc packs and not the Ray dlc. Went on the steam community and it is a very common issue.

I'm a bit bummed. I can't pick it up today as intended. Living in a place where summer temp soars to triple digits really blows.

A few people on Twitter mentioned that their anti-virus programs pick up MN9's DLC files as malware. Should have been clearer. My bad. For all we know this might not be true.

Ah thanks for the links I'll hold off on pressing the download button if given the option on steam and if not I'll remove it asap untill a bit of time has passed to see if it was one of those day one accidents of false flags.

Famitsu is about as relyable as letting a blind man babysit. They gave Final Fantasy XIII a 39/40 if I recall and that game is one of the worst games I have ever played.

Oh my god. WTF? Imagine if Da Vinci said, "You know Mona, it's not accurate, but good enough."

I don't see him as pandering at all when he has called them out before.

Inafking's quote is tone-deaf, but not incorrect. Whatever complaints people have with the game, the alternative being offered to us by Capcom right now is literally nothing. I seriously doubt he actually approached the game's development from that angle. He's taking a lot of flak right now, so he's attempting to put it in perspective. The alternatives would be "I'll do better next time", to say nothing and be accused of not listening to fans, or to tell people their subjective opinions are wrong. Against an angry mob there are only wrong answers.

As for the game itself, I reserve judgment until I actually play it later today.

I may have overslept :lol .

I should have about an hour to play though, once it finishes updating.

EDIT: Okay, first weird thing. By default on the Wii U the B button is the "confirm" button and the A button is "cancel", with an option in the menu to reverse them. Obviously not a big deal, just kinda weird.

I'm starting to wonder who really made Mega Man. Not created it, that was clearly Inafune, but who actually made the game it was as Inafune doesn't seem to know how to make a 2D side scrolling platformer for ****.

How can this man have a budget bigger than most indie games make a game that is on the same level as the stuff Digital Homicide makes?

I'll just continue enjoying the Mega Man Legacy Collection over this turd.
