Okay, the dust issue. Yeah, my wave 3 Hal had it. Never heard of the wave 2 figures suffering from it. I thought it was just wave 3 (I got lucky with that wave) and the TDK movie masters that suffered from it. I recall wave 2 and 5, in particular, suffering from horrible QC though. Don't get me wrong, I think the new Harley and a lot of these icons look great, just can't justify starting all over again. I'm too satisfied with my very large DCUC collection. The added joints just aren't enough motivation for me anymore, but I would buy new characters like Atomica that could fit into my collection. Also figures like Flash that come with new and unique accessories. Would love a proper t-shirt Superboy and a Miss Martian.
Well, as I figured, Superman was gone. I'll have to check next week for a restock. In the meantime, I picked up Aquaman who's pretty cool. I do wish his trident-holding hands had the hinge move in the other direction so he could point it forward/down.
Actually no, it's not white powder dust, it's like the dust is stuck on the plastic as if the plastic got melted and turned to a rubbery goo.
I know most are disappointed with the 6 inch mattel Suicide Squad figures. Hell, the fact that we're getting TWO Jokers wearing shoes comforts me greatly. If anyone can find them for me and sell them to me at retail+s/h + finder's fee, it would be appreciated.
Okay, so first, Aquaman: Overall, despite the normal complaint about the lack of a thigh swivel, Aquaman is pretty awesome. The sculpt is fantastic and he can hold his trident. The alternate head with the fish call thing is a nice touch and his heads are pretty nice looking. Unfortunately, the trident is very flimsy, so you need to becareful with it or it is going to break with ease. I love that he also has three sets of hands to choose from. Superman: So uh... Superman... yeah... He is probalby my least favorite Icons figure to date. It is a shame too because he has so much greatness going on. The sculpting is great, especially on there hair. The chest and cape have the pentagon shape for the symbol sculpted on. The hair is fantastic. However, his left arm looks off when the elbow isn't bent due to how big his bicep is and the gaps between the legs and the waist is HUGE!! It looks fine some certain angles, but when you look at him straight on, it just looks terrible. The bigger gap doesn't even help him with leg articulation either. In fact, I don't get why this wave was delayed because there is nothing on him to show any sort of improvements to justify it. He doesn't even have boot rotation like all of the other Icons with boots do. Don't get me wrong, I think this figure puts the Mattel one to shame still, but I don't know what happened with this figure when they designed him. I just hope the next incarnation of Superman they do in the Icons line (that isn't N52) is done with a lot more care. If you are like me and need to have him in your collection, don't let the negatives stop you. However, if you are pretty meh on Superman overall, and are just collecting your favorites in the Icons line, you might want to skip him. Oh, his robot is pretty cool though. He is a great edition despite the fact that we lost out on a third set of hands for him.
So tiny, those they go great with all the DCUC figures that are undersized. I would definitely par that Superman with DCUC Mongrel for a display.
I want Icons Superman to fit in better scale with my SH Figuarts Super Saiyan Goku, but that's a really good point. Now I want to get a DCSH Doomsday to go with him.
I have had Aquaman and Superman for a full day now. Overall not bad. I'd say on par with the Flash. Still like Green Lantern the most. Set Batman aside since I have a full shelf dedicated to the Dark Knight. Plus his various allies and rouges. Should be picking up Harley Quinn this pay day.
I've got a Jack Kirby shelf, but that shelf is only for the Mattel figures and not Icons. If DC ever gets enough of the New Gods out I will do a shelf for them. As for Black Manta, I'll get one in there when DC does an Icons one. I'm currently getting rid of my DCU collection. In fact, just put lots 7 and 8 up on ebay last night.
Sounds like a plan! Depending on how they turn out if they ever do them, I'd be interested in Icon Figs for: Black Manta Orion Darkseid Firestorm
I think I'm probably gonna go Mattel over Icons for my Aquaman after all. I can get it for 18 from Amazon Warehouse and it will scale with my other characters better. Plus the face aesthetic on the Icons is just a little off for me.
