Its a cute cover, but even when Windblade has nothing to do with the story, she still somehow makes it onto a cover of a story she has no part of.

Groan. Obviously I'm aware this is an incentive cover, but my point still stands.

Yes, in the same month that the comic with her as a major character comes out. It's not pointless pandering or something like that, it's just standard comic book hype advertising

 

I get what you're trying to say, but I don't think that's a good comparison.

Optimus Prime =/= Windblade.

Optimus Prime is and always has been a major character within the IDW fiction (And the Transformers fiction as a whole.) Windblade is a boring, uninteresting character that has been forced into the spotlight ever since her creation.

 

Just like Wolverine.

Fingers crossed that there is a bit of foreshadowing as to who survives the story... Really don't want to loose Cyclonus or Tailgate! Or Rewind and Cromedome... Or Whirl... Especially not Whirl :-(

I am fine with her own storyline like The Transformers: Windblade and now TAAO, because we get an own storyline for Cybertron but I stand to 100% behind you about her on the Covers. It gives me the feeling that Hasbo/IDW is screaming: "Come on! Like her! You have to love her!"

I get it, people aren't as fond of her as Hasbro thinks, but it's seriously the same every time she shows up.

Hell, I've even seen threads that have nothing to do with her turn into Windblade hating columns.

 

The thing is, Windblade DOES seem to be popular. You get the same few people with the same boring bitching about her whenever she's so much as mentioned but everyone else seems to be fine with her. Popular characters showing up on covers of books they don't actually feature in has been a staple of the comic-book industry forever.

 

I'm really sure that apart from the media outlets (aka the guys paid to say it), it's the other way around. I'm familiar with the concept of "Very vocal minority", but I haven't seen anything to indicate that's the case here.

 

Well, what's wrong with her? She's about as inoffensive as a main character can be, her toys sell well, artists seem to legitimately enjoy drawing her and if she really WAS as hated as people insisted Hasbro would drop her. She wouldn't show up on all these covers if it was discouraging people from buying the comic.

I mean, discounting people who's actual problem is "she's a new main character and she's FEMALE" I don't really see anything wrong with her beyond a knee-jerk reaction to a new character being given attention.

 

Um her being a fembot isn't why people don't like her look at nautica people like her mainly because she's an interesting character full of personality while windblade not so much....

I mean I don't hate her and I love that Hasbro is doing this Fan Built Bot-thing. It's pretty great, because companies and comics need a fanbase and with this concept you earn their trust (in some kind of way...). But I don't like the developement (not the character) around her. She is great as a counterpart for Starscream so that he isn't completely ruin Cybertron. But I get this feeling that she has to be mentioned in basically every comic, TV-Show and cover. Meh. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not worth it to be angry and furrious about.

I would love to have a poster with the cover. Looks so peaceful as if Tarn and the DJD never attacked the Lost Light.
