I'd have bought both Sky Reign and Galvatronus if they'd turned out like this. It never made sense to me that all of Sky Reign's limbs were cars. As it is, I'll just get Sky-Lynx as a standalone figure, while CW Cyclonus still doesn't have his own team.

Much as I wish we could get more 'Con limbs, I suspect we won't get toy versions (not from Hasbro, anyway) of the ones shown in the sketch. Just speculating here, but I'm guessing this
    forced combination business
will lead to the rise of the Headmasters. Just look at the 'recruits' involved. Suntreaker and Cosmos are probably along for the ride (though Sunstreaker's past may also play a part) but I wouldn't be surprised if all the 'Cons involved - including Dreadwing - turn up in the Titans Return toyline.

I'm kinda with the people who don't find the Galavtronus name fitting for the Dreadwing combiner, but other than that they both look awesome.

Probably because it's a combiner Galvatron created, and he's not exactly the most humble guy around.

A bit off-topic but also related in terms of the comic issue.

What I find odd about the 1st to last page of issue 53 is it shows Victorion in Sillouette standing against 3 combiners, and Sky Reign appears behind her, and they are calling her superion.

And yet, Victorion was separated forcefully and no longer able to combine on an earlier page due to Galvatron.

Also there's another art error on Pyro Magna's head one one panel while talking to arcee she has her red Cheverons on her Helmet, and in the other they are missing.

This reminds me of old G1 Episodes. :lol

That actually wouldn't be that far off given what kind of character Galvatron is. I also wouldn't be surprised if he actually went out his way to make Dreadwing's torso mode look more like him later on.

as awesome as the line art is, it's a massive shame those toys didn't become a reality. other than skylynx anyway.

:(  I can't express an emotion for these monstrosities. On a brighter note, I'm sure IDW fans love to see this.

Not even reading the comics and I would like to see these limbs come to fruition, especially because that would mean CW Seeker limbs and something to combine Cyclonus with. I'd probably buy Dreadwing, but would opt for a Galvatronus that resembles Galvatron.

I wouldn't have a problem picking up a second Sky Lynx in a Sky Reign box set if it meant getting two new molds for Deluxe Cosmos and an F-22 Thundercracker, a remold of Skydive into Slugslinger and either using Sunstreaker's mold as Sideswipe/Red Alert or just altering that leg and subbing in Armada Thrust repainted as Dirge.

I'd also love this version of Galvatronus maybe even using a re-molded Mindwipe with the Titan Master gimmick switched out for a combiner wars peg. The mold could even be reused later for a beast combiner.

As for the Galvatronus name, I could easily see any Galvatron naming all combiners that he creates after himself. If the combiner team stays together perhaps they'll take on a new name when the next Galvatronus gets created.

They didn't release them because the majority of what you are seeing either don't exist or for the ones that do, can not take on that exact configuration.

I.E. Dreadwing isn't one of the three CW voyager molds, nor is Mindwipe a CW deluxe, and the CW Sunstreaker toy can't have the engine like that because the engine is the foot.

You'd rather they made Blitzwing and Astrotrain stop being triple changers to do a gimmick where they do nothing but form legs?

Plus, you'd also rather have these than the four main G1 combiners? CW was only possible because Hasbro could simply retool the majority of the molds as to ensure they all were standard limb sizes and thus properly interchangeable.

They actually stopped doing 3mm clips a while back. And Energon proved that making everybody a combiner is a bad idea, so while it worked for Combiner Wars in that the majority of the figures were part of combiner teams, we really do not need everybody combining for no reason at the cost of articulation and things actually important to characters like body design.

Given he fights Superion it might have been intentional as the toy Galvatronus torso is literally a retooled Superion, so for the sake of differentiation (and the fact it wouldn't look like the toy anyway because Combiners don't change the color of their torsos when combining) they went with something based on G2 Smokescreen combining with G2 Dreadwing.

Galvatron is the one who makes the five dudes combine and subsequently names it after himself.

Most of them look to be based on existing CW molds, really - seekers are Skydive variants (like Takara's Ghost Starscream), Sunstreaker has a CW figure, Blitzwing is Brawl, Mindwipe is Air Raid, and Slugslinger probably on Strafe.

The toyline's lore stated Galvatronus doesn't really have a set combiner team - he just forces four dudes from other combiners to connect to him instead (which given it is Cyclonus as the single robot kind of leans heavily on the idea Cyclonus was made from Bombshell in that age-old debate). And also the Viper figure is the assigned gun for some reason despite working way better with Bruticus.

If absolutely nothing else, these images sort of possibly explain where the idea of sticking Scrounge on Computron came from.

    100% agreed.

This does nothing more than remind me of how Hasbro overdoes things. And that has me worry about the future for the Headmasters in the IDW/G1 universe, and anything or everything that comes after it. :redface2:

But if it does excite their fanbase, then I will not have any additional issues with it. :)
