Wait! Pedophile? Did I miss some accusation against Bay or is this more, "Bay raped my childhood!"

Btw, he may not have raped my childhood, but after 4 of those movies my butthole sure is sore.

 

I can't believe how many people there are who can't wrap their head around the simple concept that if you make a photocopy of something, that doesn't mean the original thing you copied stops existing for some reason. And it doesn't somehow magically turn the photocopy into the original.

 

Apparently this accusation is floating around because of the Romeo and Juliet clause joke in Age of Extinction. With one of the leads being underage in-movie, despite her actress being at least 18-19.

 

Michael Bay has no one to blame but himself for his reputation. Each movie has had at least one, if not multiple "hot chicks" who are shot as if it is a Hustler shoot, except they are clothed. These girls can't act so we all know why they are there, and yes they are strongly fetishized. The underage thing was totally unnecessary, but Michael is well known in Hollywood to be just as vapid as any caricature we could create. It is a part of who he is.

So yeah, it's on him, and yes, he's pretty much what Donald Trump would be like if he was a director. Ignorant of the facts, makes it up as he goes along, all spectacle and no substance. A blowhard who lies to your face because he thinks you're dumb enough to believe it. And then you defend him. To shame.

 

Yeah - I wonder what the significance of that is?

I'd suggest another possibility could be flash-backs or prequel-type content on Cybertron, but then Prime wouldn't have his AoE face (probably)...

Will be interesting to see how it all goes. I really like the alternative human created Galvatron Bay gave us in AoE (and his KO 'Cons), and his interpretation of Lockdown was awesome. And I really like Sentinel Prime in DOTM. So even in a cluttered series of messy films there's scope for interesting characters.  

 

That's a pretty fundamental difference.

And when did "hot chicks" become so scary to people, anyway? This new metrosexual generation is so intent on repressing/denying their sexuality...

You DO realise that my complaint was with people calling Bay a pedophile, right? And defending him? Motherslagger, I went on a rant complaining about his outright refusal to listen to criticism. IE; ACTUAL points, instead of just throwing out random accusations. When did asking someone not to call Bay a pedophile constitute defending him? I must've missed the memo somewhere.

That's so inconsistent by Michael BOOM Bay.
We had Galvatron in TF4 who survived the battle undamaged I would say. Why would he become back Megatron? This time please give him a massive arm cannon!
No more lame jokes, clichees and too much explosions please, but I guess that's too much asked when a movie is directed by Michael Bay.

Because there's a huge difference between not thinking at all and coming to different conclusions after looking at the same evidence. Based on the film I am not convinced that Galvatron was just a copy. It's not convincing at all to me, even though I do think it's an interesting idea. The fact Megatron survived as a head without a Spark shows he was not a normal Cybertronian at that point in time by any stretch. I suspect he hasn't had a true Spark since his death in the first film where his Spark Chamber absorbs the Allspark's energy. Megatron is a highly advanced mechanical being who is not limited to simply making copies of himself. I think he actually did transfer his actual mind to the Galvatron prototypes. The dialogue in the film supports this. Brains said he gave the humans the science, "all so they could build him a brand new body," and that Galvatron was, "just Megatron reincarnated." I don't think Brains would say those things if Galvatron was only a copy.


Like I said, I think your idea is incredibly interesting and respectable, but I'm just not convinced by it from watching the film multiple times. Maybe this next movie will support one idea or the other, but until then we just don't know for certain.

 

If that is indeed Megatron, then the most obvious play for me is his consciousness fully awoke in Galvatron post-AoE, took over, and reverted to his old self.

(I'm guessing someone has probably said this in the past 41 pages by now)

 

Interesting concept! Although I don't think it'd incompatible with multiple Megatron consciousnesses. Also I would frankly be surprised at such clever plot twists reaching back to a ten year old film, when the blockbuster needs to work with a wide audience including many who won't have seen the 2007 film. Plus Bay's Transformers films haven't shown much interest in continuity and building on each other's plots historically...

Still, would love for this to be the turning point!

Yup. I said it, and then noticed others had before me. Seems the easiest and most likely explanation, but Bay will probably do something unexpected! Looking forward to funding out!

 

I hope this is meant to fool all of us and it turns out it is not Megatron, but who knows. Still I don't blame Michael Bay, cause he isn't responsible for the script only for the directing.

 

But what happened after the body was made and the files copied? Did the original head disappear or crumble into dust? Nope. So there were then two sets of Megatron memories existing simultaneously. The original and the copy. If you made a clone of yourself and were both alive, there would be no question as to who the real you was. If you died later, that wouldn't magically change the clone into the original. "You" would be dead and your clone would live on. Your actual original consciousness would die out with you.

The clone with its identical memories and thoughts and feelings might act exactly as you would have if you still lived, but your consciousness would be gone. If Bay wants to say that Megatron's head didn't actually die, and somehow repaired itself and attained a replacement body, that would not negate any continuity and it would make perfect sense that he'd still call himself Megatron, since the real him never called himself Galvatron. Only the copy did. It would also be a great way for the filmmakers to get away from using that crappy cube-morphing effect of the last movie and have Transformers who only transform again. I'm all for that.

 

I think it get's too complicated for the general audience, but it would be very interesting for true fans or people who keep up with the films. Come'on Bay reveal the voice actor for Bumblebee!

 

I wonder if this new Megatron is the dump truck with the cape.

 

Maybe the Megatron head is still controlling the Galvatron body?
